hey everyone ! have only just found out that i have depression and to be honest am glad that i can finally figure out why i am so sad and un happy all the time! Now i know wat it is there is a way i hope of gettin though it. been feeling like sad, alone, cut off for years on and off and only now after havin a week with no sleep at all that i went to the doc and told her everything that i realize that i shud have got help sooner! So any help u can give wud be great!

Hey Rock,

First of all, welcome to the HW depression forum.  You have come to a good place with a lot of wonderful people.  People who can give you advice and will not judge you.  Also are going through the same things as you are and understand where you are coming from. 

You have taken some good steps towards helping yourself.  Talking to your doctor was the first step.  She can get you on some medications and set you up with a counselor and that will be your road to recovery. 

Coming here is another good step.  We are in no means professionals, but we can tell you what we have been through and also hopefully give you some good advice.  You will most likely be giving us advice too.

I am happy that you are feeling better and hope that this will continue for you.  Sometimes it takes the right combinations of medication and counseling, but with trial and error you will find your nitch.  I wish you the best.

I too wanted to welcome you to the forum,so glad that you found us and as Karen said you have taken a huge step in getting better.

Did your doctor put you on any meds?

Mod- Depression

Chronic Depression, Panic Attacks,Anxiety Attacks,Anorexia

I would like to welcome you to the Depression Forum as well!

Its so much easier trying to fight something when you know what it is. Now you know that you have depression there are many different ways of fighting it. You could try meds (From a doctor) and you could try talking therapies (From a psychiatrist / Psychologist). A lot of people combine the 2. They get themselves stabalised on meds so that they can get the most out of the therapy. If you talk to your family doctor or a mental health specialist, there are other options out there as well, but these are the most common.
