Welcome to HealingWell!
We do all have a tendancy to sabotage our own happiness when we are down. I have done it many times. I think that we feel that we don't deserve to be happy.
Are you currently going to any type of therapy. I would highly recommend it so that you can have some guidance. You need to explain or teach your boyfriend about
depression so that he knows that when you are feeling bad, that it is the depression talking and acting out. People who don't understand depression tend to take things personally, well how else would you take things?
I have lived with depression for a long time and found that the hardest thing for me to do is express my feelings to other people. Everything would come out all messed up. Like the total opposite of what I wanted, I didn't have the help at the time of counseling to learn what to do and say. So I suggest that you start some kind of therapy, it will help the both of you.
Best wishes, keep posting and let us know how things are going.
