I'm don't know if I have depression, I dont take medicine, I dont talk about it. I'm so sad. I have been for as long as I cant remember. I smile and laugh a lot, but I cry every night. everyone says I have so much going for me and I dont doubt that. I just dont see what everyone else is so happy about. I see, hear, do all the same things, but I dont feel what they feel. Recently I've changed myself for "the better" stopped doing harmful substances, got involved with something I have passion for, and even have been trying to maintain a relationship. It is nothing. It has done nothing. It wasn't my life is me. I just so depressing to even been around. I push people away for no reason.

But what scares me the most, if I do go talk to someone or get medication...what if it is nothing? What if this is just me? how do I embrace someone I dont even want to be?

Hi Feerhin,

First of all, welcome to healingwell depression forum. We are so glad that you are here. This is one of the best forums and I know that you can learn a lot here.

Secondly, you will never know unless you try. And sometimes it takes a while for the medications to work. There are so many different kinds now that if one doesn't work, you can try another.

It does sound like you may be depressed, but it sounds like you are catching it early and it makes it a lot easier to fight. We are all here with you fighting this battle, so don't feel alone.

Hi there and Welcome to Healingwell,

I agree with Karen. It sounds like there is a distinct possibility that you are depressed and the best way to find out one way or the other is to see your doctor. If you are not depressed then its not the end of the world either. You can start making small changes to the way you live so that you become the kind of person you want to be

Feerhin - that's what happened to me seven years ago, when my depression first started to kick in. I was sad for no reason and I'd cry myself to sleep as well. To find out if you have depression, I'd go see a doctor about it. It's possible you might. I agree with Karen - you never know till you try. Don't make the same mistake I did and wait two years before getting help. Just to let you know it takes awhile for help to work - whether it be medicine or therapy - but trust me, it's definitely worth it. It's going to be one of the hardest things you'll do, I won't lie, but that just makes you such a stronger person. And once you conquer this you know you'll be able to conquer anything.

I think it's great that you're already making steps toward getting better. Continue with the great work you're doing. It'll all be worth it, I promise. And welcome to Healing Well. :)

Welcome to HealingWell and the Depression. You have been given excellent advice and I would also encourage you seeing your physician to find out if you have depression or something else going on.
