I am planning on getting a tattoo very soon.
I know a lot of people are against it, but my tattoo isn't going to be gross or anything. It's going to be beautiful, and most importantly meaningful.
I just got through the worst few months of my life, and I know this is the time for me to get one. I want something that would represent freedom, courage, or faith and hope. If anyone has any ideas/suggestions, I'd appreciate them.
has anyone here ever done anything to kind of "reward" yourself for pushing yourself to get through something that was hard to overcome. Not necessarily a tattoo, but just any life change, big or small, that you can say you're proud of?

Hi behindtheseeyes,

When I graduated from college I got my belly button pierced. I had thought about it for three years before hand and I always thought it was kinda sexy. My ex-fience had also recently broken up with me, so part of the reason was to do something that he would never be able to see! Sounds childness now, but made me feel good at the time! I still have it, although I don't go showing it off!

Best of luck!

If you would like to get one, I think that is fine, it is something you want and yes we should all reward ourselves for reaching goals. I am sure if you search the web for tattoo samples you will find some interesting art work.

I reward my self with a spa treatment or if it was a really important occasion a bit of gold is good for the soul.

Good Luck

I think that our hard times need to be remembered just like our good times, but not to be dwelled on. We build character when we go through a difficult time and we grow. So commemorating a hard time is a good idea. I hope you get a nice tattoo that you like and will enjoy from then on.

Hi Behindtheeyes,

I have a tattoo on the bottom of my spine, which is the chinese symbol for happiness, I got it when I was 19 and it was at the end of a bad/nasty relationship. I've had it for 6 years now and it is a great reminder to myself to remember my needs and the importance of my happiness, and although its a bit out of fashion now, I still love it!

I am mulling over getting another - a phoenix, I'm just not sure where to get it, so I will wait until I know for definite!
