Good morning everybody.
I have been trying to think of a good topic to come up with tonight (I am typing this out on Monday night).
We are coming so close to the big holiday and I am sure some of us would like to do something to make ourselves feel good.
How many of you have ever thought of opening up your home to somebody less fortunate?  To have them for dinner and give them something nice for Christmas.  Something that they need.
My step daughter handed out tents with fleece clothing, toiletries, and food items to the homeless.  Which there are a lot of this year.
My husband and I celebrated our holiday on Saturday with the grandkids.  So we are talking about donating time at the local church or the soup line this year to help out the less fortunate.
Some of my friends bring in a person of need into their home and share a meal with them.  The elderly really do appreciate that especially if they have no family to spend it with.
So I was wondering, do you guys ever think of doing something in that order to help others?
Let me know your thoughts.
Luv and hugs, Karen

Absolutely. I wish I could do that. I was supposed to volunteer at this place downtown that gives out food on the holidays, but they actually had enough people to go so they didnt need me... But, I absolutely would have gone!

It would be fun to go to a nursing home and spend the day with the people there. Some people are very lonely and sad because they dont get to see there family. My mom wanted us once to "adopt" "extra" grandparents from a nursing home! That sounds like a good idea to me, dont know why we never did that...

Anyways, absolutely. Well, I have to go make a post really quick before bedtime...Im in need of major venting... Have a Good Tuesday as I will probably not be on, maybe late to tell about the doc appt...Take Care

Good Morning Everyone,

I have a very small home and as we will be at our daughters opening my home is not one I can do.  But I am huge on Helping others as much as possible.

I donate in many ways but I always wish I could do more.

Of course the American Cancer Society is my Number One and I purchased items the Hope Lodge had on their Christmas Wish List and delivered them.  On January 8th 2009 my son and I are going to Sam's club to purchase more items that he wants to choose and donate and then we will go to the Lodge to deliver them.

I am also a supporter of the Epilepsy Foundation and at least twice a year I collect clothing and items they request, alot of my own and then I ask others if they may have some things they would like to part with?  I usually end up with 3-4 large green bags full.

I donate time right here because I love the site and it helps me use my background in a non-professioanl manner.

St. Jude's Childrens Hospital is another one I donate to yearly and never do we  turn down a request for Crohn's Foundation.

Helping supply our local food shelf is another one we do.

It is in the giving that you receive the greatest satisfaction.

Keep it up everyone.  It is not how much you give but that you did help in some small way.

I help out with the Seniors as a volunteer, but I always donate to certain causes that I feel need help.  This year I made donations to an aids foundation, the American Red Cross, a food bank and another organization called Paws.  I donated to my local Paws as I guess they have many chapters. I felt this was a good cause as they do not put down any dogs from what I understand and they don't keep the pets in cages, they have rooms and blankets and toys.  Having lost a dog this year I feel I am helping the lost souls who I hope will be adopted. I am a true animal lover and want the best for our furry friends.
