I just wanted to tell somebody so don't mind me posting. My SO was talking with his brother last night, he was telling him that I've been looking for a job and he made a suggestion. He was saying that I should look into getting a pale grant that would pay my tuition and for living expenses. I could go to school and get my associate's degree. So, I'd be able to go to school get a education and have a couple hundred dollars a month for living expenses. Don't ask me why we didn't think of this sooner but I had no idea that there was stuff out there like that, so call me naive. I have to say, I'd rather go to school and get started now then a couple years like I had thought. The only thing is, I have to come up with something that I would want to do and that pays well! Because when I think about it I honestly come up with nothing. I've been looking at career handbooks and such so that will help. Also will get info from the community college. This is going to take a lot of dedication on my part so I will have my associate's in 2yrs. I'll be 30! Which is great to me. Anyway this is all in the making but I am so happy this was brought to my attention! (I know I feel kinda dumb) I knew about a grant but didn't know that there are some that pay for living expenses so maybe not so dumb lol.

Grants are wonderful. I think about that now and then, but I am fifty and feel like I am too old. I don't know, I still like to learn. My problem is retaining the information. Depending on what the subject is.

I think that it is a wonderful idea and I hope that it works out for you. Keep us posted.

Luv and hugs, Karen

Thanks Karen and even though you think your too old, I think your a wonderful person! I just never thought in my wildest dreams of getting a degree, it's weird how you see things in a new light! I think it's the best thing that I could do for myself. I know that I wouldn't feel as stuck in life if I can pursue my education and get a career started! Ha! The word career always sounded too big for me but now I know it's really not that scary or really not too far for me to reach! I still have a lot to check out and such but I'm excited about it.

Wishdreamhope sounds to me as if you have found a wish dream and a hope all in one. There are a lot of grants out there and a pall grant is a very good one(two of my older sons are in collage)and Karen if you wanted to go you are not to old my older sister was a nurce and she hurt her back so bad that she can not do that kind of work any more. She is 52 and has been in School for 3 years and has 1 1/2 years to go then she will be a high school teacher. She wants me to go but I hurt to much and can not think of a job that I would like and that my body could do without hurting to much.Any way W.D.H. good luck on the schooling and make sure that you find out all of the grants that you can apply for.Remember grants do not have to be payed back loans do.
