Hey all I was able to get into my Dr office today thank god! Since I haven't been taking effexor very long or on a high dose the dr just wants me to stop taking it. I will see him in a week after I stop then we will discuss another med. I'm sure I will still feel some withdrawal so wish me luck through the next week. He did mention celexa, has anyone taken this or on it? I am just so leary to take anything else....I'm not feeling very optimistic because there are so many drugs. Also any feedback on cymbalta? I know everyone is different but it would be appreciated if anyone can talk about these meds.

Hi Hope,

I wish you luck going off of effexor, I hope that you don't have any problems. I don't know much about celexa, though I think it is in the same family. All that I know about cymbalta is that it helps with fibromalgia (and probably other pain) pain.

Keep checking, because I am sure that somebody can give you some feedback that I can't.

Best wishes,

Hugs, Karen

Hi Hope, I had trouble getting off Effexor but it is doable. I was on Cymbalta and my only issue with that was that if you drink it can really be bad for your liver, so I got off that. But Effexor worked pretty well for me in spite of the brain zaps that it caused if I was late with a dose, so I may go back to it. Right now I am on Wellbutrin and it's not doing anything for me at all. Celexa I have also been on but I seem to develop too high a tolerance for some of these meds and have to ultimately switch to something new. No bad side effects but they can be hard to discontinue.

Good luck, keep us posted.

Good Morning and I wish you luck in coming off of your medication.

I used Cymbalta for over a year, it was OK but did not truly do for me what I had hoped so I weaned off that over a 2 month period or so.  Right now I am not taking an AD for the first time in 26 years.  I want to see how I do on my own.

I will go back on meds if I need to as I am not  adverse to using medication but for now I will see how it goes.

I wish you kudos and lots of hugs for you in this battle with finding the right medication.
