Hi Cvoor,

Welcome to the depression forum. I think your question is a good one. I don't know what the research is on combining antidepressants and vitamins, but perhaps another member will have some input on that. I am a huge fan of vitamin supplements, when taken under a doctor's supervision, and I think they can improve your health substantially. However, that is my personal opinion based on my own experiences, and I am not a medical professional. I hope you find the info you're looking for. :-)

Most people that suffer from depression are severly lacking in B vitamins.  I think a good multivitamin/mineral are very important and not the ones you get at the grocery store or at Walmart.  You need a pharmaceutical grade, but make sure it does not have alot of herbal extracts added in because you could react to them.  If you have a health food store, like the ones in my area are a co-op organic grocery store as well, Deep Roots or EarthFare.  I think it is of great importance, I can tell when I get lazy and forget to take them.

I usually take a lot of supplements. But when I run out, often I forget to get more. Or I get lazy and just don't take them. I take a lot of medication as it is and it becomes a chore.

Thanks for posting this. It is a very interesting question. I am anxious to see what others say.

I have absolutely no scientific foundation for this, but eating fruits and so to get your basic vitamins helps me a lot, probably since there so delicious for a part.

As Ran said, vitamins might be a help to provide your body with the stuff it needs to function normal, but I do advise to visit a doctor, since uncontrolled vitamin intake might cause harm.

Take care my friend!
