It does take time and really in order to love someone else in a mature way you need to be able to love yourself. But this is also part of the maturation process. So how about
you start with being compassionate with yourself.
It cannot hurt to talk with your school social worker or counselor about this?
It may take awhile for you to find a therapist you like, but if you are really ready to get some help for this professionals are the way to go. Not because there is anything really majorly wrong with you, but because sometimes it helps to have someone to advocate and listen without judging.
We will be here if you get diagonsied with depression. All I can do is encourage you to find someone who can help you thru this process, like a teacher helps a student. Therapist help with dealing with the emotional part of life.
