Welcome to the HealingWell Depression forum. You have come to a good place. Everybody here is very kind and compassionate.
I have been on meds for many years and my depression has gone into remission. That is what the psychiatrist has said anyway. I feel like myself, I am happy most of the time. Life isn't perfect by no means, but I don't think it is for anybody. With therapy, I have learned coping skills. So this helps a lot too.
I would suggest seeing your primary care physician. Get a physical to make sure that there is nothing physical going on. And discuss the way that you feel with him and see if that would help.
If you don't want to get on medications, maybe counseling would be the way to go. If you don't want to do that, there are many good books out on depression that might help you.
I hope that you feel better soon. Keep posting and let us know how you are doing. Take care.
