Hi all,

I know I just posted a few days ago saying how fantastic I was feeling and how excited I was for college, but things have changed a little. I need a little boost of confidence before I spiral into a depression episode before anything really starts. I've had all of my classes this semester once now. I've taken all the outlines/syllabuses and written on a desk calendar all the assignment due dates and test dates....and this really made me feel awful. Just looking at all the things listed in the months up till December is frightening. This research class that I'm in has an assignment due every time the class meets (three times a week) plus tests, plus 2 giant projects with lots of outside classwork. I've been feeling optimistic about it since I know if I look at it and get overwhelmed before things even get started it won't help anything...but it's so hard to keep a positive outlook when lots of due dates are staring you right in the face.

I know we always say take it one day at a time, but right now when I'm having those "Why the heck did I do this..." and "How am I going to make it"'s difficult. I need to get a good grade in this class, as it is required for completion of my undergrad degree in the Spring. I can't do poorly in this class because if I do I can't take the last one required of me, which would set me off an entire year for my entry into Grad School. Needless to say, I'm feeling the pressure!

Words of encouragement needed please! I'm trying hard to keep positive, but I need a little push in this time of....being overwhelmed and a little bit stressed.

You can do this. It looks like you are going to have to live and breath for this semester, but you can do it. Give it all you got, have confidence and try not to let old anxiety creep up on you. I have faith in you!
