I know I am depressed. I have all the symptoms and took many tests to see if I am. I tried telling a few people and all they said was that I am overexaggerating. I am under 18 so I cant do anything on my own and my mom wont let me get any type of help. This is the outlet I have and I am hoping beyond belief that it works. Help me understand what is wrong with me if its not to much trouble...

Hi X3,

Knowing what options you have in your situation (being under 18 and having your mother not understanding your troubles) is not somethiing I can help you with, but hopefully some others here can.  I can help by being a listener and sharing what I've been through.  Depression can hit at just about any age - in my case, I first had it when I was a teenager.  Took a long time before it was clinically diagnosed though, mainly because it was passed off as moodiness and the like.

Hang with it here, and let's see where things lead.

Didn't mean that you are JUST being a teen. Trying to help you see that some of your feelings are typical and everyone has suffered thru it somehow. There is a lite at the end of that tunnel.

Don't want you to think the worst is happening, before you can actually see someone on the outside who can diagnose you.

Do think that letting the counselor call your mom could be good. Press the counselor to tell you additional measure that you/she can take. The counselor may be trying to get you in to see someone, but knows that your mother is holding things up.

If you are still in school do try to touch base with a school counselor.  I see you are posting a fair amount in the Bipolar forum too and if you feel you have depression or Bipolar disorder you really need to seek out medical counseling.

We are here to support you and let you know that we understand what you are going through.
