Hi, this is my first time on a site like this, so here goes.  I've been struggling with depression for about 3 years now.  I hate having to put up a good front for everyone.
They all ask the same question:  are you okay today?  NO!!!  I'm not okay.  I'm having bad days more than good, but how to you tell that to someone who doesn't understand?  I don't know what to do anymore.  I'm stuck in a world that I don't want to be in.  I'm sick of the responsibilities of life.  I just want to be alone, but how to I tell my husband of 13 years and my two children that mommy doesn't want to be a part of this family anymore?  All I do is holler and scream at my kids, I only talk to my husband when necessary, and besides that, I do nothing.  Housework everyday, then nothing.  Of course there are days that the housework doesn't even get done.  I'm tired of everything.  What will fix this??  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Good Morning and welcome to HealingWell,

I understand how you are feeling as I have had a dx of depression for 28 years and it takes a lot of hard work on bad days but there are many good days and help is available to you.

If you are not sure whether you have a clinical depression , I think it's a good idea to have a medical evaluation. The psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse can also order tests to determine whether there's a somatic cause and tell you whether medication would be helpful.

If you think you are having a hard time, but are not clinically depressed, call a therapist. Ask around about who's good. Believe me, lots of your friends are seeing counselors! Get a referral from your PCP. Some hospitals offer physician referral services and have counseling services available too.

The first step is to make an appointment with your PCP and tell him/her what is going on as you need to find some help.  From there you can branch out to the specialty physicians.

We are here for you and please keep talking with us.

Again a warm welcome.

I think you should enjoy having a family. My husband died the other night. I miss him more then I thought I would. Please think about it.
