Because during the last hour I've been going through a serious anxiety attack, thought it might be the time to post this with a poll.  I'm not sure which is worse - the anxiety, which makes everything seem completely out of control or the depression, which withdraws me from the world.

There's always talk of anxiety with depression, or so it seems, so I'd like to see who out there has both or only one or the other.

Thanks.

I have both anxiety and depression. I take xanax for the anxiety though and it seems to control it for the most part. When you get anxiety, don't forget to breathe. In through the nose and out through the mouth. Called smelling the roses and blowing out the candles. Focus on your breathing. It really helps.

I take pristiq and abilify for depression and mood disorder. They also work good. It seems to be a good combination for me. My depression has been in remission for a long time. I am very fortunate for that.

I hope that you feel better soon. Remember that all of us here understand what you are going through and hope that we can be of some help. Keep posting. Let us know how you are doing.

Hugs, Karen

Karen,

Thanks for the post.

Not good at the moment.  I just took a xanax 20 min. ago.  I'll probably be taking another in the next 20 min.   I'm supposed to take them early in the day, but I don't always do that.  Didn't today, and look what I've gotten myself into.

I have a hard time posting at times because of the depression (which is why I disappeared for a number of days).  I think about the things I've posted, and I start to think I'm complaining, and who wants to hear me complain.

I think we all feel that way. Like we are a bother when we complain. Though most people wouldn't understand it, we do. So don't think of it as complaining, but as venting. And that is what the forum is for. Like I said, we do understand it. It could save you from really getting bad. Just open up and share with us. We are here for you.

Hugs, Karen

Hey sweetie,  I have both and it is a bit like the  chicken and the egg ~ which came first.  Usually the anxiety hits first and then I feel bad which leads to feeling depressed.  I have anxiety and depression and I am not ashamed of it.

I have accomplished great things in my life and have found much happiness.  Sometime it is a struggle but I refuse to give up and just let these disorders run my life.  Sometimes I have to slow down and sometimes I have to take a time out but I will always be me.  I am a unique person as you are.

Like Karen, I take meds as they work for me even though I may sometimes need to go in for an upgrade on my meds.

Remember, Scythia,  Anxiety/Depression are not who you are but what you have .

Hoping your feeling better and know we care.

Gentle Hugs,
Kitt
