Hi , um its my first time here ... I felt like I needed to talk to or listen to someone who's going through depression too ... But reading all these made me feel like I shouldn't be this way ... I'm only 17 with a major depressive disorder and little to know friend ... It all started as far as I can remeber ... I have both my parents no grandpas one healthy grandma ... My other grandma is currently dying from MS (Multiple sclrosis) and she's only 67 ... My best friend died several years ago by drowning in a lake I was 14 ... And the last person she talked to ... My Great Grandma who was also another best friend died as well a few months later ... After that my childhood cat (I know its stupid but she was my life pretty much) died ... So within 1 year I lost it all ... Ill admit I spend most of my time alone ... I don't have a lot of friends ... I have only a few and none understand my depression ... Another friend who use to be best friends with me blew up at me and said he wants nothing to do with me ... Another one of my "bestfriend" who said she had depression accused me of a lot of things and is in the process of ruining my life ... I feel like I don't have a mother because she acts more like sister than anything ... I've found I'm only truely happy when imwith my horse that I'm no longer allowed to ride due to bad knees ... Everyday is just a struggle to get through the day! I wake up put on a fake smile come home and cry ... And honestly I don't know what to do anymore ... Can anyone help me? cry

Hi there,

I am sorry for all your losses. That is a lot in a short period of time. Don't feel bad for missing kitty. They are so comforting and to lose a pet, well that is just like losing a person in my opinion. I like dogs, and lost my german shepherd last November, I still cry about it. And I have a puppy now, but I still miss my other dog. So don't fee dumb or stupid. They are a big part of our lives.

You have been through so much. No wonder you are depressed. Try to take life one day at a time. Believe me, it helps. Life can be stressful at times and we need a break now and then.

Keep posting my friend. Know that we are all here for you.

Hugs, Karen

Yes, really a lot of losses to suffer. People get counseling after suffering even one loss, have you thought about talking to a school counselor, someone at church if you have one, maybe your reg doc can suggest someone to see for talk therapy. You need it, it would help.
Sorry its been such a hard year for you and you are lonely.
Can you get a new kitten? We can never replace the previous one, but we can learn to love a new one again.
Friends your age don't have enough experience in life to understand what you've gone thru, and your resulting depression. Adults often can't handle it either. ]
When you know someone already doesn't "get it", don't beat yourself up over it. Try and continue the friendship by doing whatever activity you used to do that might re-kindle the fun again. You have to work at it, and its not easy when you're depressed.
You must be seeing some doc for the fibro, ? call and make an appt and tell them how you've been feeling and you've been thru way too much emotional losses this past year. I think they may be able to give you a med to get you back on your feet. When you're really, really down, sometimes you just have to do that to regain yourself back again.
Sorry your grandma is dying. This will be another big hurt for you. Start getting some help now.
Hope you will continue to post.
Best wishes,
Sandy

I am glad that you have gotten some antidepressants. What about getting some self help books about the things that you are going through. The losses you have suffered and what you are enduring at this time.

Grief is hard, and can be a long process. And there is no right or wrong, or no time limit on it. Allow yourself to be sad when you are sad. And don't feel guilty about it. Just go with it and cry if you feel the need.

I hope that you feel better soon.

Hugs, Karen
