I have been having seizures since 2003 and lost my job last summer. Because I cannot drive and the job market, replacing what was lost has been a herculean challenge. My family has no patience with me anymore and I need to move on. I do not wish to be a burden to others and see few options before me. I live in Southern California. If there are organizations or groups I can contact for assistance with alternative living conditions and assistance in finding employment, these are the options that would be ideal.

Thank you

Hi Raymond,

Have you thought about applying for disability? That could be an option. I would talk to somebody and see if they think you would qualify, like your doctor. Do the seizures interfere with your everyday life? Or do you take medications for that?

Have you contacted The Department of Human Services? They might be able to assist you with living expenses. Or they might have some resources that could help you. Talk to your doctor first if you are interested in signing up for disability. Maybe that is not an option to you, I don't know. But it could help.

Are you seeing a counselor? They can often get us on the right path to a better life. Talk to your doctor about that too, or contact the department of mental health. I hope that things work out for you. I am sure that others will be along to help you too.

Hugs, Karen
