I have these periods of time when I completely shut down. It's like my stream of consciousness, thoughts that direct my actions and ability to talk to other people, is just gone.

I don't know what to do with myself all day. I don't work. haven't for a long time. I know I'm not always like this, but right now all I do is sit around and watch tv or play video games. I don't remember what to do.

I struggle with talking with people. I can respond if they say something, but I can't initiate conversation.

My thoughts are just gone.

Life seems meaningless.

Is this depression or ?

Has this happened to anyone?

What can I do about it?

Yes, this is depression. of course, it sounds very abrupt to me, but then again there are many reasons for and types of depression. Has this been happening for a long time or just recently?

It's been happening from time to time for the past ten years. It can last for a couple weeks or several months. Right now it's been about two months. I feel so powerless. I don't know how to stop this.

Can you suggest anything?

How about going to a counselor? Do you think that would help you? You would definately get support. Or talk to your doctor and see if he/she recommends medications or counseling. I think that would be a good place to start.

Best wishes to you.

I see a therapist, but it's tough right now as it's hard to talk. On antii-depressant for about five weeks now. He added abilify about a week ago.

Is there anything else I can do. I'm desperate.

Give the abilify time to work. It usually doesn't take long to start making you feel better, but it is gradual. Keep posting, as we are all here for you.

Best wishes for a wonderful day. Be patient with yourself. Maybe you are due to do something nice for yourself as a new hair do or getting your nails done. Something nice and relaxing.

Take care,

Hugs, Karen
