confused

I am new to this site and this is my first post.
I moved to a new, very large city with my boyfriend and i am very confused with everything. I have a long history of depression  which i originally chose not to take medications for. My depression is always around, but  comes an goes. Recently i have fallen very deep in to a depression, which left me feeling. I have begun to and i have not told anyone about it.
I want to stop and get some help. My biggest problem is i know nothing about where i live or how to get around and neither does my boyfriend. I have been trying to find a counselor before things get out of hand, but i really don't know what to do before this all gets worse.
Any suggestions?

Sorry I had to butcher your post but we are not allowed to talk about self harm or suicide on this forum.  Thanks for understanding.  Hugs, Karen.

Hi Vaivita,

I'm Ivy; one of the Crohn's Disease moderators. I thought I'd drop you a note because none of the mental health moderators are online right now.

We're not really meant to discuss self-harm on HealingWell, but we've found a forum where you really can discuss such things openly, and get some support and help. Here it is:

http://www.beatingthebeast.com/forum/

I hope this helps.

I'm not in North America so can't offer any advice on finding a good counsellor, but maybe some of the other forum members - either here or at BeatingtheBeast - will be able to help.

All the best to you,

Ivy.

Vaivita:

Get a phone book and look up mental heath facilities. Call one of them, tell them your situation and I am sure they can point you in the right direction. If it takes too long to get in, go to the ER and be honest about your situation. They will help. Good luck to you. You are in my prayers.

I have called a lot of places to find some information of therapy, but being new to this place, i got the ring-a-round. Most of the numbers they gave me, directly from the hospitals, were not working . I have found a place where i booked an appointment with a therapist in a few weeks, but being that is is the holiday season, i won't be in until January. I don't know my way around this town and neither does my boyfriend. We both work a lot, he is on a five day schedule and i am part-time with a lot of hours. Neither of us know how to get the hospitals or when we can go, which is a larger problem.
Thanks for the advice and about the other website above.
