With me being a senior in high school im constantly thinking about what I will pursue after I graduate.  I want to be an animator so of course I have to go to college, but I just don't think I can. My gpa is only a 2.0 which I find to be pathetic. The only college I'll be able to get into is a community college like J Sargeant or something. Don't get me wrong I mean going to J Sargeant would give me the opportunity to raise my gpa, then after 2 years transfer to the college of my choice, but if I had applied myself in high school I wouldn't have to do this. I used to be such a smart kid. I would always do my work and try my hardest in school, until middle school. I keep using the fact that me being bullied and made fun of since 6th grade a reason for me doing poorly in school. I would also use the "I just came home from a horrible day at the hell/****hole of a school with the most ignorant and ill-mannered kids ever so why would I even feel like doing work!? I DON'T EVEN WANT TO THINK about SCHOOL" as an excuse also. Now I've come to realize that the only person's fault this is....is mine. Just because I went to a crappy school with dumb and hateful adolescents did not mean I could come home and slack off on my work. It didn't matter what they said or did to me. I was going to school for me and me only so that should have been my main focus. In high school people would try to warn me to straighten out and fix my grades, but did I listen....no. I pulled the old oh poor me card and used that as an excuse. I didn't give a care in the world towards college and now this is a consequence I have to suffer. I just feel like a complete idiot.

Going to college is so different from high school. You will do well. You will be able to focus. You will not get bullied because everybody is working towards the same thing. Learning. So know that it will totally be a new world with many oppertunities. Go after your goal. You will do well. You aren't an idiot or a zero. You are a wonderful person.

Hugs, Karen

Princess,

You are not a zero.  You seem to know what the problem is with your low GPA so try to turn it around and concentrate on what is happening right now,  the rest ignore if you can.

To be quite direct a GPA of 2.0 is not good but that does not necessarily mean you will not  get into a college that suits your needs and desires.
SAT and ACT scores are equally important and they may demonstrate intelligence that in not reflected in your GPA.

Can you work with your school adviser to see what he/she may recommend to help you pull up your GPA and also to study for ACT/SAT ?

I wish you the best of luck,

Kitt
