I will let you know what has been going on from the begining. I am a 29 year old women with a 6 year old daughter. I first started having severe depression and anxiety symptoms when I was 20 years old and it was so bad that I was constantly dizzy and having panic attack and I didn't really leave my house for about a year. I got pregnant with my daughter when I was 21 and got really sick and was in bed for the first 5 months of my pregnancy from an overactive thyroid. I couldn't take any vitamins or anything and lost over 20lbs. Then when I was 4 months pregnant my mom was diagnosed with lung cancer and passed away 2 months later(when I was 6 months pregnant). So, on top having severe depression and anxiety allready I was really sick and my mother passed away wich was really hard for me because I was only 21 and pregnant with my first baby and my mothers first grandbaby but my mother never got to meet her. It has been 6 years now and my depression is the worst that it's ever been. I don't go out of my house, I cry uncontrollably all day long, I don't go around my family or friends, I don't get along with my husband anymore, I will do anything I can to dodge people and talking to people, my energy is so drained that I sleep 18 hours a day and don't even get up to eat. I haven't been able to work since I was 20 because of this condition or see alot of doctors because of the social anxiety and always thinking that everyone is judging me. Even the doctors!  I applied for SSI and have a mental exam tomorrow and am scared that they will deny me because I only have a few medical records stating my depression from the last 9 years because my anxiety is so bad. I have been prescribed 3 different meds for my condition but they make me worse. I was just wonderring if anyone has the same symptoms that has been approved for SSI? or If someone could let me know what you think about my condition because I really don't have anyone to talk to. Thank you

YOU HAVE HAD A LOT TO DEAL WITH. MY CONDOLENCES OVER YOUR LOSSES. I WOULD TELL THEM EXACTLY WHAT YOU POSTED. I FEEL YOUR DR. NEEDS TO RE-EVALUATE YOUR SITUATION. MY THOUGHTS ARE GEARED TOWARDS SPECIALISED COUNSELLING, YOUR DR. CAN REFER YOU TO AN APPROPRIATE PROFESSIONAL. TRY TO NOT BE TOO HARD ON YOURSELF. THIS IS AN ILLNESS, AND ONE WHEN SAVAGE BITES HARD. TRY TO NOT ISOLATE,
I WALK, SMELL THE AIR AND THINK NOTHING. IS THERE ANYTHING THAT YOU CAN DO THAT BRINGS SOME JOY. PLS NOW THAT YOU HAVE BEEN BRAVE IN POSTING.

I APOLOGISE IF I HAVE MISSED STUFF, HAVING MASSIVE FOCUS ISSUES WITH READING. I DO HOWEVER SEND MY HEALING COMPASSIONATE THOUGHTS TO YOU. JAMIE

Welcome to the HealingWell Depression Forum. You have come to a good place and I am sure that many will post on this thread. In my opinion, I agree with Jamie, you probably need to be reevaluated. It sounds like you are on the wrong meds. Or maybe you need an increase. You have been feeling down for a long time and it is time that you get some proper help. I wonder if your doc would refer you to a psychiatrist??? I think that they are better at figuring out what we need. I go to one and he has really helped me a lot with medications. So think about it and let us know what you decide. You may be able to see a psychiatrist without a referal, but I am not sure. I also see a psychologist for therapy. It really helps and I highly recommend it. It doesn't have to be a psychologist, it could be a regular therapist or a social worker. Either way you would have the support that you need.

Keep posting and let us know how you are doing. We are here for you.

Thank you soo much for the advice. I have never posted anything about my condition before but I think I will start because it does help to talk about it.

It really does help to put your words down. It kind of completes things so that you can look at the whole picture. And that is therpeudic in itself.

We can talk about pretty much anything other than suicide or any type of self harm. I think it will do you good to talk about it and you can get other peoples experiences and advice to work with. We all have our own journey, but there are a lot of similarities within us. The basic symptoms of depression. Feeling down, in a dark tunnel, being fatigued, and sometimes even pain. Feeling worthless. We have all been there. So we know how it feels and what you go through.

Keep posting. Know that everybody cares.

Hugs, Karen
