Hi Gumbee, I read your post and had to reply to it.

What your parents did to you as a child is just plain cruel and NOBODY should be carted off to their bedroom like that. I'm sorry they did that to you and it seems that some of the tense feelings growing up must have been really hard on you.

I hope now in life you know you're a great person and important. Don't let ANYBODY make you feel like you are not!

Parents have a way of making us feel bad about ourselves sometimes. I'm 34 and my mom and I have issues that go waaaay back over the years. I can't change her but I can change MY way of dealing with her and not letting her control me and my reactions ...And to ruin my day. Sometimes I slip and that happens, but most of the time I really try to remember that she may have her own issues and I can't let them affect me.

I hope this helps abit. Keep pposting and venting. It does help and even more so to be heard and understood. This place really helped me SO much last year as I suffer from an anxiety disorder.

Hugs!

Red has good advice. Just the fact that you are posting to this area means a lot to us. To think that you were born with a very serious disease and you are still coping with it as well as depression makes me think you are much stronger than most of us.

Once you realise that you can't change people and you learn to accept their inability to relate to you, you have half the battle won. Read of the situations and remedies suggested on the various threads from people like "snohare", Pamela, and many others. There is much experience and wisdom here to help you. :-)
