All I want to do is sleep in the day. I really don't know why. I get up, go to work, do my job well, but when I come home I take a nap. Then I am up till very late, as I hate to go to bed at night!!!
On the weekends, I take long naps.
I know this is a symptom of depression. I have been to the dr. and have had blood work done and am fine.
I hate the fact that I would rather sleep my day away rather than get out and enjoy it.
I take meds for depression.
I need some advice on how to not want to sleep so much during the day.
Is there anyone else on here that does the same thing?

i keep busy when i want to sleep. maybe have a list of
things that you can do as a deterant. sometimes we
need the sleep, other times it is the symptomology of
depression. i push myself hard, thus i tend to sleep better at
night, if i do actually sleep, but i try hard and on most occassions
i will get some zzz at night. hard for me as i live with
bi-polar affective disorder t1. so i am very manic.
my suggestion is to try and push through the wanting
to sleep phase during the day, you will feel better the next day-
as all of our healing is done at night. i wish you well.

ps, i play soliataire and crank some music. do my dishes, walk the dog, etc.
whatever gives you some entertainment then try it. me, i clean, play solitaire go on the forums, etc. hoping this helps.

Okay, I will really try to do this.
I will not take a nap when I get home from work...that is my goal for this week.
I am trying to lose weight, so I will go for a walk instead with the dog.
I am going to try to resist the urge of going to sleep.

Yes, I've recently begun having this problem as well. As a matter of fact, I got off my sofa only just a few minutes ago, telling myself that I had to get up and do something to get out of the sleeping mode. I could easily have lain back down and slept through until tomorrow, even though I have slept all day.

This is new to me. It began only a few days ago. I this jamiee is right: we need to force ourselves to stay busy, to do "something," anything other than sit or lay on the couch.

I know.  It is so hard though.  Even when I am not really sleepy, in the middle of the day, I want to just go lay down.  I end up falling asleep.  Honestly, I find it like an escape from stress.
I don't know how tomorrow will go.  I do have an appt. at 4:30 at a friends house, so I know I cannot come home and take a nap. 
It has gotten to be something I look forward to.  :(
