Well, it's my birthday and I don't have any plans.  I'm pretty upset about that.  My boyfriend knows it's my birthday and he hasn't asked me what I want to do or acknowledged it in any way.  We've been going out for about 9 months.  He's a pilot and is going to be out of town tomorrow, but he could have taken me out this weekend.  It really hurts that he doesn't seem to care that it's my birthday.  My parents asked me what I want to do and now I'm not in the mood to do anything.  An ex-boyfriend that I still have feelings for also wants to do something.  I'm crazy about this guy and on paper he's perfect, but he hurt me when we were going out before.  He said he's ready to settle down now.  I don't know what to do.  He's the only guy I've ever been able to see myself marrying and having a family with, but I'm scared I'll get hurt again.  I have a feeling that I'll just be by myself crying all day tomorrow. sad

Happy Birthday Gretchen!

Your boyfriend is a guy!! Men don't really remember birthdays, anniversaries etc... I bet he cares about you so much but the birthday thing just isn't a big deal to him, and because of that he may have forgotten. Did you tell him it was your birthday coming up? Give him hints and stuff?

My husband still forgets my birthday sometimes!! I told him afew days before and he actually said, OH yeah, I totally forgot! Thanks for reminding me! I didn't take it personally as it is just the way his mind works.

What you have to look at are his 'actions'. How he is usually? Caring, attentive, understanding, loving and kind? Does he do nice things for you and spend time with you? These are the important things you have to remember. Maybe he's had alot on his mind recently and had intentions of doing something but got side tracked.

Be honest with him. IF this is the guy of your dreams, your future husband then be completely upfront and honest with him. You should be able to tell him anything...Just as he should be able to do the same with you.

Keep posting and have a great day!

I'm sorry about your boyfriend.
Happy birthday anyway though.
My birthday wasn't great this year either, it was the day before my grandma's funeral so...yah.

Happy birdthday and take care what decision you make.. if you want to think about marrage remember it's the whole package you need to think about, i.e. the morals and ideals of the person, his dedication. if your boyfriend does not care about your birthday it does not mean he does not care about you. i'm just saying people need some space sometimes , and even if 2 people are married they still need some space to do their own things.

On the other hand, your ex might have bin a diffirent person and changed, men go through a lot around the 20s and many of them like to play around but at one point or another they want to settle down and have a family security, i can't tell you if he's completly honest this time , but i think you do owe him another chance, if he does it again though then that's it! make sure he understands that.

Oh btw your story is very similar to Brigite Jones the movie. i don't want to spoil in case you didn't see it yet, but if you really haven't seen it then GO SEE IT NOW, you will relate it's story EXACTLY like yours -:)
