If so how does this work for you, my therapist has been working with me for anxiety/panic, but I have hit the depressive point of the episode and wondered if therapy can help me through? Thanks for the replies!

Hi BB,

I think CBT is good therapy. It takes time though. It is gradual as you change your way of thinking. Though it is very possible that you need medications too. I highly recommend CBT for you. Everybody should have some type of therapy.

Best wishes to you.

Hugs, Karen

Thank you, yes I am on medications and have heard a lot of good with CBT, and from the few sessions I do see that it will take time and maybe a lot of it therapy!!!! I am more concerned about it helping the depression as I really need help with a change in thinking; I do have the FAITH, but of course its way easy to get negative when feeling so bad and down. I have just now started a leave from work for hopefully only a couple weeks as I stabilize on the new med Cymbalta and increase in mood stabilizer that should be increased any day. Thanks for the encouragement.

You are very welcome,

I take a mood stabilizer also with my antidepressant and antianxiety meds. It really does help me a lot. I hope that it helps you too. There is a good book called "The New Mood Therapy" or Feeling Good. By a doctor named David Burns. It is about CBT. If you ever get a chance, get the book. It really helps. And you can find it cheap on Amazon. I think that is where I got it. I read it years ago. Lost it and then found another copy. I think you would like the book.

It sounds like you are doing good. Keep up the great work.

Hugs, Karen

I so far have not found it helpful -- truthfully this is my 3rd go around, I quite twice before! But after being diagnosed with bipolar, doc says that is it very very helpful, so here we go...I usually am pretty anxious after the session, maybe too much talking about my symptoms! HA! Oh well, thanks for the replies and for the book info!!
