Hi Everyone,
I'm hoping I can get some personal experiences from people that have been on Lexapro.  I have depression and GAD.   I am currently on Wellbutrin and have lost 60 lbs this year.  this has been of added value since I have type 2 diabetes and my blood sugars are now perfectly controlled with medication.  My MD has told me that the Wellbutrin can cause anxiety and she wants to switch me to Lexapro  I've lately been like a cat on a hot tin roof.  My problem is that when I read information on line many, many people talk about weight gain with Lexapro.  If that will be a side effect then I can't do it as my blood sugars will again go through the roof.  I realize that the people prone to post under those searches (I searched Lexapro and weight gain) are going to typically be the ones with problems.  I'm hoping I can find some people that have been on Lexapro for a while to see what their experiences are.
Thanks!

Does the wellbutrin make you nervous or cause you anxiety? If so, maybe he could add xanax to the mix instead of taking you off of the wellbutrin. I wish I could take wellbutrin, but it makes me very nervous and I can't sleep on it. I am currently on pristiq, xanax and abilify. Works good together.

Best wishes to you. Do remember that not everybody gets the weight gain side effects. But if you are reading that most people are, then you might. I would talk to the doc about a different route if you are worried about weight gain.

Hugs, Karen

Hi Karen!
I'm not sure if it's the Wellbutrin causing the anxiety or if it's just normal GAD. For a while I was in great shape, best I've ever been. Calm and relaxed. Now I'm uptight again and it's driving me nuts.
Thanks so much for the reply!!!
I will definately be talking to my MD but would like to see more people on Lexapro. It sounds like a great medicine except for the weight gain.

Hugs,
Chris

Hi Chris,

You might not get a lot of replies over the weekend. It is kind of slow here, but I am sure you will get some after Monday comes. I hope that you get some positive feedback.

Hugs, Karen
