This is my first post to this website or any site like it.  When I look back the last 10 years, there isn't alot that I can say I've done right.  At the time when my decisions were made they seemed great.  Soon after, I was wrong.  I mostly go day by day with a fake smile on my head.  It's not an issue that I don't have a close connection with my family or friends, I just sometimes feel alone.  I am married, just had a newborn boy, and you think life would be great.  I don't have the energy to do anything anymore.  I once had the desire to excel at everything, but now I second guess every decision I make.  I would rather sit and stare at a wall then do anything right now.  My life seems like an emotional circle that keeps spinning and never stops.

Hi Faint Rocket,

Welcome to the depression forum.

It sounds like you need to see a counselor and get started on some cbt or something. I think that would be a good place to start. Either that or talk to your family doctor. You could be suffering from postpartum depression especially if you just had a baby. That gets you into a serious funk. And the sooner you get working on it the better you can ward it off. So do call your doctor and see what they think. You might be able to get away with just counseling, or you might need medication depending on how bad it is. There are videos at the top of the page and some of them talk about it, you might want to check that out.

Thanks Karen. I'm the husband though. My wife had the baby. I've been looking into counseling but I thought I would try this first. I used to work in the medical career field and I prefer getting to hear what other people have to say.

Sorry about the mixup. You will get other replies here on how people deal with things. Even reading some of the other posts will help you. I still recommend counseling as it has worked so well for many of us. Getting out and walking helps to clear the mind and it is good for us. Meditation works for some too.

I hope that you find what is right for you.

Hugs, Karen
