Alright I don't know where to begin, I've been sad a long time, never bothered to classisfy it as 'depression' because that scared me. But one day my sister told me that depression did run in my family - then I realized m dad and grandmother have both been depressed I guess I was too blind to see it. This sounds too cliche i dont know If I'm depressed. I haven't wanted to do anything lately. Just sit around, eat maybe.  occasionally read. I haven't wanted to go out and do anything. I want help but I can't describe why I'm sad and people keep telling me they're jealous of one thing or another but that makes it worse still. and they just want to live a life the way I so luckily got.   and it sounds too common to me. I dont want someone to read this and go 'pshh another depressed  teen." I feel like I'm drowning but only because I'm too afraid to swim. And I don know how to get help. I don't know how to word it or who to go to. I give up. I don't have a guidence councilor and my father scares me. I don't want to tell my mum because she is already under so much pressure with work. And I know my sister  and stuff before me and she got over it. I don't know how to, who to tell. My friends don't know how to help me I told 2 of them. Help?
I had to edit your post as we aren't allowed to discuss self harm on this forum.  Thank you for understanding.

Hi there,
Welcome to the HealingWell Depression forum.  Don't let the label "depression" scare you.  There are a lot of teens going through the same thing you are right now.  So don't feel alone in this.
I know that you said that you don' thave a guidance counselor.  Could you get one?  How about going to the department of mental health and talking to somebody there.  It really sounds like you need somebody to talk to.  You said your sister got over it, but are you going to be able to?  Do you think you will 'grow out of this situation?  You do need some guidance.  We can help you as much as we can with support.
Here are a couple of sites that might help you.
I hope that some of these can help you out.  I feel really bad for you right now.  I want you to be happy and you deserve that.
Hugs, Karen
