I was officially diagnosed by the doctor today with depression, she is putting me on citalopram and wants me to come back in 3 weeks to see how I am doing.

She also gave me the number of 2 counselors to call Monday and see about setting up an appointment with one of them.

Now to the big problem. When my mom saw the prescription in my hand I had to lie to her about what it is for, my parents will both make a big thing over this, when I told them last week the doctor thought I was depressed my dads responce was "yeah thats there excuse for everything" and my mom rolled her eyes..I also have nobody to watch my son so how am I suppose to go to counseling? I mean sure my parents watch him but they will want to know where I am going so what the heck am I suppose to tell them? I do feel like I need counseling and I feel it will help me alot so I do really want to go

Take your son with you to counseling Chrissylynn. I am sure that would be okay with the counselor. Tell them that is the only way that you can go. I feel counseling is very important and you need to go. Your parents will see an improvement in you and eventually you will be able to tell them that you are going. You must do this for yourself. It is very important to your healing.

thanks for the replies, sorry it took so long to respond I was without internet. I am unsure if they have a place to watch the kids but I am going to check when I call tomorrow , if not I guess I will just have to have him bring his gameboy or cd player and have him sit there with his headphones on.
