Hi everyone.
I'm writing because I don't know what to do anymore.  I'm a university student and I can't bring myself to get out of bed most days.  I've nearly brought myself to  several times but I'm too scared.  Life doesn't feel like it's worth living anymore.  I don't know what to do to get out of this slump and I've put on a fair bit of weight because of these feelings (I was an elite athlete in high school).  It seems like I don't have anything to look forward to anymore and I don't know how much longer I can keep doing this.  Does anyone have any advice or suggestions?  I feel like I'm alone and I don't know who else to turn to...

Hi there.

Are you seeing anybody for counseling right now? I really think that you should especially with the way that you are feeling. Please talk to a counselor. When things get this rough, we need help. It is hard to fight these feelings alone. So PLEASE talk to somebody professional.

Know that we are here for you. I would like to suggest taking a nice walk, it will not only give you energy, but it will help you lose weight. I have been walking and drinking lemon water and lost 14 pounds, actually I think it is 16. But when I went to the doctor's office today it was 14. But I am happy with that.

Are you taking any medications? You could probably use an antidepressant with the counseling. You are far to depressed to go without some type of help. Please do get some counseling to start out with. Let them know how you are feeling. And keep us posted. In the depression resources at the top of the page, there are numbers and websites that might help you. Please do go over them.

Keep posting and let me know how you are doing.

Hugs, Karen

I still live with my mom and I've told her that there's something wrong and asked her for help but she keeps telling me off for being lazy and she keeps threatening to kick me out if I don't help out around the house more.

I know I have to go out and get help myself but whenever I feel like I can get help, I feel somewhat better and feel like I don't need any anymore. Then I slide back in.

Thank you for the reply. It's nice to know there's someone out there that believes me.

You aren't lazy. You are probably fatigued from depression. But it is up to you to do something about it. You need to talk to a counselor and get some psychological help. We all have been through this. You have to start somewhere. Try to help out around the house in the meantime. I am sure that your mom would appreciate it and she would stop telling you to help out. When we grow up, we have to take care of ourselves and pay our way through life. It is time for you to start doing that. You may need medication or counseling to get you started. Find a way.
