Hello,

I was diagnosed with pcos a year ago. I first approached treatment naturally. I was able to lose 25 lbs and was feeling great until the hairloss started to get worse. I then went to a M.D who I trust tremendously and was put on metformin. I have not lost anymore weight, my hairloss is improving, but I am starting to have pain where my ovaries are and I am now experiencing anxiety and depression. I have been on Metformin for 3 months now. I do my best to watch my carbs and sugars but maybe not as close as I should. I may have a sweet once or twice a week and pasta/bread once or twice a week. I also will spot the week of my period during a bm or when I am intimate with my husband. I know this is because of the excess testosterone and that my progesterone levels are low causing my cervix to dilate slightly before it's time to. I saw someone mention that they are on a hormone blocker. What medication is this? I am going to see my dr. this week. I would like to discuss it with him. My glucose levels and insulin levels have been within range so I am wondering if this is more a hormonal imbalance. I am tired of dealing with this. I just want to feel right again.

Thank you for you time,

Lissah,

Welcome to the forum.

What is pcos? I am sorry, but I don't know. I hope that we can help you here to feel better. Depression is hard.

I am sorry to hear this. Is it paiinful? My sister use to get cysts on her ovaries. That was years ago. Do you have them all the time? poly means many right?

It has to be frustrating to have so much going on in life. I hope that things get better for you. Keep posting and know that we all care about you.

I am glad that your blood sugar levels are good. It is hard to stay on a diabetic diet. But actually you are doing good with that. Keep up the good work. I know it is hard not to have a few carbs once in awhile.

Take care,

Hugs, Karen

Hey, I have PCOS too. It is very hard to lose weight for me and after going on a low carb diet, I ended up with ulcerative colitis. Not sure if it was related, but just a warning! Anyway, it's good if you were able to lose 25 pounds! I want children, but can't unless I want to try IVF... The disease sucks!
Metformin made me sick, I grew facial hair, i only have a period twice a year or so...
Not sure if this will cheer you up but, it can always be worse! I just had my colon cut out due to UC, I'd go back to just having PCOS any day! Not to minimize your issues, just saying I hope you can enjoy your life despite your health issues.
DX 2/10 UP. DX 07/10 UC. Pancolitis. tried: Canasa, Asacol, Bentyl, Imodium, Imuran, Prednisone, Flagyl, Cipro, Remicade, Codeine, Tramadol, Xanax, Morphine, Vicodin, Prozac, ~ nothing worked. 1st surgery 6/8/11! 2 more to go!
