Making a long story short, I'm 22 yrs old, no life, no chance for a career, my friends and family have abandoned me completely, I'm unable to stand up on my own and life just seems like it's not going to work out for me in the end...I've tried everything I could to possibly get back to seeing the positive side of thinking, but...I give up...I don't know what else I can do...so this is my last attempt to try and save myself before I just drop everything and just go...

Hi Jason,

I had to take some words out of your title to your thread as we aren't to talk about suicide or anything like it on here.

I know that you are desperate. But slow down and think about things. I am thirty years older than you and you are young. You have plenty of time to get a carreer. What is it that you would like to do with your life? Why did your friends and family abandon you??? What is it that caused it? If you can't stand on your own, where are you living now? On the street? In a mission? You are too young to see the end of your life. Give yourself a chance to try to do what it is that you want to do. Are you working anywhere? How is that going? What is it that you would like to do with your life? Let us know. And know that we care...

Hugs, Karen

Well...I like to draw...but where I live, it doesn't seem likely that I'll even get a chance to make that into a career. As far as my so-called family and friends go, they abandoned me when I needed them most...just recently I was in an incident with my mom and she basically wanted me out of the house so that her new boyfriend and her could have more privacy...because of that, the rest of my family doesn't want anything to do with me, so I had to take up residence at a friends house...but that doesn't seem to be working out because I lost my job, they're getting fed up with me because I'm having a hard time finding another one...they won't come out and say it, but they want me gone too...I'm a simple person and all that I want is to be stable and depend only on myself...I just hate this position that I'm in and I've been in this mess for some time now...just want things to change, but it doesn't seem like it's going to happen...so I give up.

Dear Jason,

I agree with Karen and have the same questions. But no matter what the circumstances are, you can build the life you want and fill it with people that are capable of understanding you and loving you for who you are. I am 59 years old and have lived with some serious issues, but one thing is always clear...time changes everything. People reinvent themselves all the time. What is your passion?

Please slow down and give this a lot of thought. Try to think of all your options and see what fits for you. I got the best advice from strangers. I have never been able to rely on my family, I am a foster child, so I had to pick the family I could count on from my friends and they give me a lot of love.

Slow down and think of yourself, not what you want from others. You have control of your life.

Take care of yourself,
Laina

Dear Jason,

Is there anyone that you can talk to like a therapist or a social worker? You might find that they can help you with housing and filling out applications. You may not have been asked to leave because they don't want you to. Jobs are hard for anyone to find these days. Can you get on some kind of aid?

I, too, am a foster child and jumping from home to home comes natural to me...I've never settled down in one area and I've always been in this situation. I just want to break right now and give up...I know it might sound like "BS", but I, literally, have tried every option available to me and failed...I can't stand up anymore and I don't know what else I can do to stand up again...

As far as help goes, I can't afford the people who provide help in my neighborhood. Yes, I would love to just work, save, and when things are set just get up and live on my own...but the reality of the matter is that that'll never happen. I'll be in this position until I break, which is happening at the moment.

Jason,

You are an artist I am sure. Can't you take some classes or something to get you back motivated. All it takes is the right exposure and you are on your way.

You should be eligable for financial aid. Talking with a counselor would help you get what you want and most importantly what you need. Please think about it. We will be thinking of you.

Hugs, Karen
