Hello I'm new to this forum. I'm 16 years old and diagnosed with severe depression, anxiety, PTSD, social phobia, and I have horrible eating Problems. so I've been on loads of medications since then. I've also smoked for about 5 years. 2 years ago my dad killed himself, and I never really dealt with it. I always feel so sad, and I want to cry more than anything. I don't know why, but I just can't. Each time I feel sad it gets worse, and I can't handle it anymore. Does anyone have any comments or advice on how to cope with this, or how to make myself cry?

Thetwistedchild,

I'm sorry that you have had to go thru so much in your 16-years. I definitely can't tell you how to cry as that is one thing I do all to well. Are you currently seeing a Psychiatrist, Therapist or Counselor as this would be something I would definitely recommend. Are you on any meds for your depression, anxiety, & ptsd? I commend you for asking for help at your age.

As I wish my parents would have sought out treatment for me when I was young (I am 46-yrs old now), & I didn't get help until last year.

I wish you all the best...Pleez keep coming here & posting, this is a wonderful forum & community. Sending you Smiles & Rainbows your way.

Your Healingwell Friend,

Hi there,

I had to edit your post because we aren't allowed to ciscuss suicide.   I am sorry about your father.   That must have been devastating. I agree with the above post. Get help as soon as you can. And do keep posting.

Hugs, Karen

That is good Thetwistedchild, you are on your way to healing. I think that is the best we can do. I do like to read a lot of self help books. What do you take for adhd? What kind of antidepressants are you on. I take pristiq, abilify and xanax. The combination really does help me. It might not be right for others, but it helps me a lot.

All that we can do is the best that we can. It wasn't that long since the death of your father, so it could very well be possible that it is still effecting you. But that is okay, you deal with it and keep going. It will get easier with time. I am really glad that you have joined us. I hope that you keep posting. Everybody here really cares about everybody else and I think that has a huge effect on our healing.

Keep posting, and know that we do care about you.

Hugs, Karen

PS  As for the crying.  I think it will come when you are ready.  And it can be a huge relief.  Maybe try to sit in a quiet and private place.  Focus on your breathing.  Feel the quietness around you.  Let your senses feel everything.  Maybe it will happen then.  But the more you worry about it, the harder it is to come.  It will probably happen when you least expect it to.  Best wishes...

Thank you, I take Celexa for depression, and Vyvanse for ADHD. It sort of helps, but some days I just feel horribly sad for no reason.

How long have you been on the celexa? Maybe it is time for an adjustment or a change. Make sure to let the prescribing doctor know what is going on. Do you go to any counseling? I read a book called "feeling good" it is really good. It helped me a lot. It is kind of like Cognative Behavioral Therapy and it changes the way that we look at things. It might do you good. I got the book on Amazon and it was cheap. I think six bucks. It is worth it just to see if it will help.

I will post a couple of sites for you also.

I have heard good things about moodgym. Maybe it will help you.

Take care.

Heya, saw your post and feel that I really need to just show my support. I'm very sorry for all that you have been through and must be really hard for you. It's great that your reaching out for help to get you through this difficult time in your life. I can't relate to what your going through, however I can imagine myself in your shoes with my life and my family and it must be horrible.
You hang in there ok, you seem very strong and with a little help you will only get stronger.
