well i got home from a very tiring day at work to find out that because i am making about 30 dollars more than i was last year(only because general manager out of the store) that my kid qualifies for healthcare from the state but not me. so now i cant go to counseling anymore and forget about my ADD meds which means im not going to be able to focus at all and who knows it could cost me my marriage and even my job. yes i will have that second job but with my crappy work insurance who can afford it. i have a 4000 deductible. its rediculous. i need my meds and my counseling. my world is crashing around me and its like the state dont care. they care about the illegals or the people from other countries more than they do americans. i see some who get all kinds of help from t he state but they drive BMW's and jaguars but i work my butt off and cant make ends meet but they basically flip me off and say **** you.

Hi WG,

This just sounds so unfair. Is there anyway you could take the 30.00 pay cut so that you would be eligable for the state help? I know that sounds stupid, but it would pay for itself in one visit. It just isn't worth losing the help. I don't work because if I did my husband wouldn't be able to get help. I worked one year and then found out that if I could continue to work it would really hurt us, so I quit my job. I sometimes work a couple of months around the holidays, but that is all I can work.

I would figure out how much an hour it takes to make the 30.00 and have them cut your pay. That way you would still qualify for the benefits. Or else cut back on your hours. This really seems unfair. Like you say, you are trying, you are working. But there are so many who don't need or deserve. And they get encouraged to participate. I hope that you get something figured out soon. Keep brainstorming, I am sure that you will come up with a solution.

In the meantime we will try to help. Take care, take it one day at a time.

Hugs, Karen

PS  I forgot about needymeds.com .  Try bthem out for free meds.

Hi WG

Been right there before. This may not apply in your state but I live in the poorest state(Mississippi) so most states should have these in your community. I never knew until I got in the same fix.

1. go pparx.com to see if you qualify for any assistance (may not-you are like I was -stuck in between welfare level and being able to afford on you own). Also, I get all my scripts free (except narcotics) from Catholic Charities. They have an all volunteer pharmacy-great. Switch to the cheapest generic

2.Here they call it Gulf Coast Mental Health- a group of mental health clinics thru out area. I NEVER paid a penny and sa a counselor and had a psych for meds. I think it is federal dollars here so there should be s/t around.

It realy sucks, and is scary, and wth, middle class works its tail off and get nothing back. If you never worked, you get it all. They just told me I lost my $41 in food stamps cause they lower monthly income for 2 to $943-c'mon how do you live on that!!!

Sorry, I get on my soapbox but this really angers me about this country...it is all about the $ and the rich don't care how many backe they have to step on to get more.!!

Good luck hon

it is unfair. i didnt take my meds yesterday and man i was saying stupid stuff, just cant form the words right. i say them right in my head but when they come out its all wrong. cant focus. what am i going to do without my meds. i am trying to figure out when i can cut my hours for one check but that will hurt us financially because i know even if 30 that they may still say no. they are changing the system but like i said the illegals have more benefits than we do. this is so unfair. im going to try and show another stub here in a couple weeks with a letter telling them that without this insurance i will lose my medication. i dont think i will lose my job but its a possiblity because my boss does not like me too well but im going to tell them that without my meds i can lose my job. im really upset and torn and not looking forward to life with no therapist or meds.

Did you check out needymeds.com? They will help you with meds, but you still have to see the doc to get your prescription. There is also something called a spenddown that DSS doesnt' want to tell people about. I would keep bugging them until they can help you. You need to be able to see a doctor and get your medicaions.

We have a program called tencon, that might help you to if you have it. But mostly they give generic meds. But it is better than nothing. My girlfriend gets her meds that way and goes to her sessions.

I hope that you find some help soon. This really isn't fair. There has got to be a way for you to be eligable with help. Often if you contact the manufacturer of the medication they can help you. What is it that you take for add? They usually get your doc to sign something and give you the meds for free. Check that out on the interenet.

I wish you the best of luck with this. I just know that 30.00 isn't worth not getting your meds.

Like I said, check out pparx.com, I think you can call them and give your info and they'll tell you if you are eligible and the manufacturer will send them to you.

Also, local mental health facilities for low to middle income work on sliding scale (They never charged me a dime)

In short term, ask docs for samples. Also health clinic will help with meds if you qualify. But, you will only know that if you apply.

Good luck

Maggie

I do have a quick question from you great members over here on this forum! Will any of these programs help some of the members in the chronic pain forum as well?

I would appreciate any help you can offer or advice on low income and getting meds.

       Thanks!

I never thought about that SE, but I imagine that they might. I just googled one of my meds one day, brand name though, and I got to a program that helps with prescriptions. Through the company. So it would be worth a try. The tencon program is a Michigan program, and probably falls under a different name per state, I am not sure. But I know people on it here and it helps. It can't hurt to try.
