I know this is off topic in a way.

We have had a beautiful autumn.  But today that ends.  It is cooler and rainy.  But I am going to put that to my advantage and bake today.  I am making Lazagna.  I will let you all know how it turns out.  That is the favorite food of my husband that I make.  I am not the best cook.  Use to be better.  But I have gotten spoiled because this husband loves to cook.  So I don't cook as much as I did with my first husband.  I use to get up at 3:30 every morning to make his breakfast and pack his lunch for work.  I would have my housework done by 9:00 am and off to the woods I would go with my dogs.  I had a lot more energy then than I do now.  Well, maybe because I was a lot younger...  lol...  If things work out, I plan to bake an apple pie too.  But that is a lot for one day for me.  So I am not promising anything.  Wish me luck with my lazagna...

I hope you all are having a good day in spite of the weather.  Maybe it is even sunny for some of you, I hope...

Put the lasagna in the oven, curl up with big dog and read a book.

I always like a rainy day NOW and THEN, Katie does too. We curl up in the big bed and watch a movie or read or nap...

When's dinner?

I can virtually get a weather forecast for this area from your posts, Gettingby. Whatever happens in Michigan on Monday will be arriving here on Friday; we can count on it!

Hope that lasagna is delicious. I'm sure it will be for both of you.

It turned cold here for a couple of days last week, so I made a big pot of vegetable soup (my grandchildren's favorite), then wound up having to finish the rest of the soup myself. I won't be making that again soon! Three days of vegetable soup is too much!

Have a fun day today.

IG I always make too much, used to cooking for 1000 kids....I always freeze soups or stews, just enough for 2 lunches or so.

Good afternoon all...
Sounds like we're all having a super dinner today! We are all invited, aren't we Karen?

Lasagna is one thing I haven't made in a long time. I'm inspired to give it another go... my mouth is watering.

Drizzly, rucky day here in PA. Leaves are smothering the ground. The fact that there are 500+ trees doesn't help. Not looking forward to the clean up when the branches are finally bare.

Brought home a box that had been stored at my shop since we moved to current home. Newspaper wrapping stuff was dated 2006. Guess it's about time they got put away... (or maybe thrown away)

By for now...
Joyce

P.S.
Karen, I'm going to previous thread to fill in about my husband's health... then maybe we can close out "I've had a long life'.... and continue with new topics, like this one.

Sure thing Joyce, sounds like a good idea. I like to post something halfway positive once in awhile. People seem to enjoy this now and then. And yes, you all are invited over for dinner. We are going to have avocados and tomato with catalina dressing on it. I use to hate avocados, I love them now. I haven't started cooking yet, but will be soon. The baseball game is on this afternoon, so I can watch that while the food is cooking. But our team "Detroit Tigers" aren't winning a lot. Which is sad. Diehard fans are still standing behind them though. They have a chance at the world series, and I am proud that they came this far, but if they don't win tonight, it is pretty much over. They are on home field too. I am just hoping that they win. We have a really good pitcher tonight, Justin Verlander, so that helps. But we have to score some runs to get points. Oh well, it is just a game, but I have been watching them all season and want to see them win...

Joyce, do you want me to lock your thread "I've had a long life" or just we wont post on it anymore and it will drop down and then go to the next page. I really don't want to lock it because new members often find older threads and post on them. If I lock it then the member can't post on it. It was an interesting thread and I am sure a newbie will find it at one point or another.

I hope that you find a use for the box of stuff that you found. I often run into things like that. I am bad about throwing anything away, almost a horder. But I have gotten better about that. I am learning to part with things. Trying...

Have a good day,

Hugs, Karen

Karen... sounds like we should just let the old thread drift, but you know best how to handle this. I'm just a 'newbie' and don't know the protocol yet.

We usually don't lock a thread until it gets to about 80 posts, and if it is one that a lot of people keep responding to, we just start a new one called part 2 or something of that matter. But if we just don't post on it, it will eventually drop down and go to the next page. You can start a positive post if you would like to. I think it would be wonderful. It is up to you though.

I am surprised you haven't tasted an avocado. They aren't sweet or anything. I use to hate them. They are a good fat. They do have calories, but they are really good for you. Some women use to put avocado in their hair years ago, kind of like when they use to put mayonaise in their hair. I think that they have protien in them too. Not sure though. I use to make a rosemary tea and put it in the refridgerator and rinse my hair with it. It made it soft and smelled good. I have a rosemary plant in my window right now. I am going to try to keep it all winter. Sometimes they make it sometimes they don't. It is too cold here in the winter for them to make it until spring. I love herbs. Had them hanging to dry for awhile in my kitchen. Thyme, sage, basil and rosemary. I love cooking with them, I will go out and cut some oregano to put in my lazagna sauce. Speaking of which I need to get started. If I would get off of the computer I could. It is just that the forum has been such a pleasure to come to that it is hard to stay away. But I got to cook. So I should end here, pick my herbs, chop some onions and get started. I don't have fresh garlic so I will use some I got in a jar. I love garlic and it is so good for us...

I am totally rattling on... lol...

Until next time...

Okay, Bayoub2, we all know the feeling, but don't be gone too long.
The forum really values your views and maturity.

Leave the caffeine alone for a while, please. Stop using tea and
eating chocolate, also. See if your feeling tone doesn't get better
before next week is over. Eat plenty of salads, as well. Keep yourself
well hydrated with water. It'll do wonders.

Get your rest and avoid alcohol completely if you can do that. You'll be
feeling 100% better in just a few days.

Many Embers on the Bipolar forum has said that she has finally accepted the fact that her husband is just ill and that she can't listen to him anymore. Maybe a little of that will help your feeling tone, too.

We all know the feeling so well. It will pass, and we need you back
here as soon as you feel well enough to sit at the computer and
tell us what you did that helped.

Take care.

Just so you all know, my lazagna turned out great!!! I don't cook like I use to so that is a big deal to me. It is a lot of preparation and time consuming. For me it takes all day. But it was yummy and we enjoyed it.

Wish you all could have been here!!!

Hey Karen,

We had bad rain late last week, but now it's really warm and sunny. So maybe our sunshine will make it's way over to you in a couple days. You know how that works!

Let's enjoy what's left of the autumn days. It's such a pretty time of year. There is so much peace to be found in the beauty of the creation all around us. Ever since I was a kid it has helped me feel safe and loved even when the world around me wasn't that way.

take care everybody, embers

Thanks you guys,

I will be waiting for that sunny weather in a couple of days. I have a lady coming to pick up my wreathmaking machine today. I am selling it. Kind of sad about it, but I don't use it now so she is welcome to it. She will get good use out of it. My hubby is boxing up the pine cones we had and got all the wreath rings together. So she is getting a really good deal. I am getting money. lol... I am going to miss it. I wanted to make myself a wreath this year, I will show her how to make one. I have enough balsam in my yard to do so. I am kind of excited and kind of sad at the same time. OH well... Got to make changes sometimes.

Change can be hard GB, especially when we consider the reasons. It is sad you can't use it any more, but you are right, hopefully the lady is able to bless many people with what she will make.

A tough decision for you to make considering you got alot out of your creative side.

My hubby cut a few greens so we could show her how it works and all. They smelled so good. It reminded me of Christmas time... Been shopping already to get it
done early. Ordered my granddaughter a leap pad. Can't wait for it to get here so I can check it out. I will probably be playing with it. hehe...

Take care all!!!

I know I'm in the minority, but the colder the better for me.

Give me rain, snow, sleet, hail, etc. and I'm at the top of my game.

I hate sunny and warm weather, makes me want to stay inside.

I totally wish it was still summer. This cold, rainy weather makes me want to sleep all day. Oh well!

Whether you like this weather or not, here's a blog post that makes me smile no matter what :) http://www.lyonlifestyle.com/blog/2011/10/no-string-attached/

It has reminded me that even if you're feeling low, happiness is never too far off in the distance!

HI Emilybee,

Welcome to the depression forum. Thanks for sharing the blog, it was nice. And you are right, happiness is really close by. I have found lowering my expectations has helped me to appreciate the little things in life. Be it a flower or a butterfly. It is all beautiful and I feel fortunate enough to be able to enjoy it. All we have to do is look around us to find it. Even if it is just looking out the window at a tree blowing in the wind. It is pleasant. IF we are in the right mindset.

I hope that you continue to post. If you want to, you are welcome to start a thread about yourself. You have joined in at a wonderful place. Everybody here is very kind and compassionate. Very supportive of eachother. And that is what it is all about, support for eachother. You are never alone when you come here.

Hugs, Karen

It is cold, windy and raining today. Good day to bake again, though I am sure there will be a lot more good days with winter on it's way.

I think I am going to make an apple pie. My hubby loves them. But they are a lot of work. Peeling apples, making the filling. Making the crust. But in the end it is worth it, but will have to get some french vanilla icecream for me. I love icecream with pie. I only like my pies the first day when the crust is kind of crispy. After that, I don't really care for them. But hubby loves it all the way to the end.

I am wondering what all of you are doing this weekend. It is yucky here so I am staying in. But tomorrrowI am supose to wqalk my dog with my girlfriend. Hopefully it will be nice.
