Well, I  am pleased to share that I had a great day volunteering at the preschool today.  Its a small home based school that my son went to when he was 4 and 5 and I have kept in touch with the director over the years.  Her son has some similar issues as Ben so she's great to talk to.  I used to work with preschoolers when Ben was younger at the YMCA.
It's funny how easy it is to be with them.  The kids made me laugh and we did crafts which I love to do.  We spent time outside in the sun on a beautiful New England Fall afternoon.  It certainly lifted my spirits.  Then I got a call from my former manager at the YMCA and she wants me to teach a craft class in the afternoon.  I'm a little nervous because my brain is not functioning properly but if I can get some creative juices to start flowing I think I'll be ok.  I managed to beat the anxiety this morning to get myself to the preschool.  Small steps I keep reminding myself. I'm trying to focus on one day at a time.

What a great contribution you're making, 2Coolcookie!

I'm always so glad to see someone who takes control of her life and
goes ahead with the constructive and beneficial things we can do to make a contribution to the lives of others.

Do you know how much this means to the children? They will sense your love for them and your love for the arts and crafts class, as well.

Congratulations; one hurdle overcome and all done for the love of children and yourself--very important!

Thank you so much. I have been in such a cloud lately that I wasn't sure when it would lift. I had to push myself but so happy I went. Its a very nurturing place. We also had some neighborhood kids over for cake and ice cream after school so I was pretty much exhausted when they left. There were 4 younger boys that we didn't get to invite to Ben's party over the weekend and his respite worker. He is going to start coming more often to keep Ben busy after school. That will ease my anxiety of how to keep him engaged in some activity after school. He doesn't have a lot of friends and doesn't do any sports. We've tried everything.
I'm feeling very hopeful and there is a spark of my old self. Thanks for your support.
