Hello Everyone. I guess I should have done this first, but anyway, here is a little info about me.

I'm 38, a widow. I lost my Husband Jack to Leukemia July 16,2010. I live in McConnellsburg, PA, a very small town. I grew up in NC, and most of my family is still there.

I am the parent of 4 cats, 2 are 10, 1 is 11, and the baby is 6 mos. They truly are my babies.

I work part time as a home heath nurse aide.

As for my health issues, I have suffered from Depression & Anxiety since late childhood, and started on meds @ age 15. Since then I have been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, Anxiety & PTSD from childhood abuse/neglect.
Thankfully I have a good psych doc and a wonderful therapist. I have been doing therapy once a week since I lost Jack. It helps with the grief process & also with my depression. I'm doing CBT. It isn't easy.
I have some other issues: Migraine, Diabetes, Asthma, Arthritis & Chronic Pain due to an injury.

I am considering retuning to college next fall to complete a degree in Psychology. I love music and books, I write a little poetry and journal.

I look forward to "meeting" everyone here. Feel free to ask me anything, I am an open book.
:)

Dear Evrblue...I am so sorry for your loss....I have some mild depression mostly controled by an antiepressant. I am 50yrs. old woman and my depression started after 2 failed back surgeries and now live with chronic pain and fibro. I have good and bad days. I hope you find comfort here and keep in touch.....Amy

Hi Evrblue!

I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. I hope you are able to find some social support in your area despite your family being in NC. I'm glad you found excellent doctors. No therapy is easy, but the results will be worth all of the hard work you're putting forth.

I'm also from a small town in PA. I'm 24 and just graduated with my BA in psychology last December, 2010. It's great to hear you'd like to go back to college - and you picked a great major ;) Do you know what direction you'd like to go with it? It's such a versatile major...I would really like to pursue a PhD in marketing/consumer behavior, but right now I'm just working on paying down my student loans.

Keep in touch...there are a lot of great people here who are very supportive and helpful.

Hi blue again

Welcome... I too want to go back to school. I went to my comm college here to audit a class and they said no, they need my sat scores, HS transcrit and college transcript...I graduated 25 years ago!!!! So silly, but I love learning...it really slows old age problems too.

Keep posting, we love new faces
