Some days my heart is a bit heavier than others and I like to think of some of the quotes I have found recently. Sometimes these reminders bring comfort, so I wanted share.

"One man's passion is stronger than the thoughts and ideas of 99 men"

"Deus Providebit- God will provide"

"In order to experience the good, we must also experience the bad"

"Life is about how we respond to situations instead of reacting"

"It is better to have loved and lost rather than to never have loved at all"

3 important words to always remember when you are challenged: patience, perseverance, and tenacity.

Feel free to share! Sometimes when I read quotes, it reminds me there has to be a light at the end of the tunnel... Eventually.

Thanks so much for the Quotes.

Everybody feel free to join in and share.

Here is one I like.

The secret to Happiness, God never hid from us... because everything we need to be happy, He placed in the palm of our hands.

If you look there and see nothing, then look again. For in them lies a handshake of a good friend. The wear and tear of a job well done. the joy that is felt when helping others. And the warmth that comes from holding the ones you love.

Hugs, Karen

Some tell me the only things that count in life is their wife and children, and they tell me i am selfish for not having any. Others say I am greedy for not sharing my life with someone. Others judge me for not being married and say i am immoral. You know being in this world has taught me, I have no wisdom, I have learned nothing, I dont fit into lifes plan. I have no cliches to share with others. Here's one, a good man has a wife and children, in the bible it says "be fruitfull and multiply". I guess I will be judged by god as well as man, anyway I am hard pushed to come up with anything worthwhile. Here is another, lonliness is not only punishable by yourself but others judge you harshly as well.

Here is my my own personal motto...a quote which has helped me through some dark times:

"Life is sustained by hope"

My mother used to say these two all the time to me during bad times:

"This too shall pass" and "Nothing ever stays the same"

I always go back to The Lord is my shepherd... it never fails to bring comfort.

And " you are not a failure because you fall, only if you don't get back up"

"Progress not perfection"

"even the worst day has to end"

"every morning God gives us another chance"
"We never realize how strong we are, until being strong is the only thing left"

Greenbean, I really loved those quotes. There is some good wisdom in them. Thank-you for sharing.

Karen, that is beautiful.

Beagleman, to paraphrase the last quote Maggie wrote, the bible says God's mercies are new every morning. Today is a new morning. I challenge you to do a google search for inspirational quotes and share one with us here. Don't regret what you don't have but start building a history of what you do have. You can do it!

By the way, if it is immoral not to marry and have kids then I guess the apostle Paul really missed it! ;0) Of course not. The opinions of others that you expressed sound very shallow. Maybe it's time to listen to people who see you and others through the eyes of love.

Hey Maggie, I was going to write the same thing as you re. Jamiee! No kidding - he's a tough cookie, as are you! Wouldn't you agree Jamiee?

btw, Is 'progress not perfection' from AA or Stuart Smally? The latter is one of my all time favorite movies!

Hi temdr. Nice to see you.

blessings,

embers

Hello all, I wrote this in my journal when I got out of hospital a few weeks ago to try and build my self esteem. Anyway, here it is.
If I measure my life by achievemnts, relationships, wealth and friends I am poor but if I measure my life by kindness, empathy and forgiveness I am rich. I guess no one can see this from my posts, I have alot of negative feelings about myself, this is stating the obvious. Another thing I learnt is to be accepting of everyone, I learnt this by working in a gaol, it is a very depressing environment. Sorry, I have no phrases, quotes, cliches, I really believe in, I am struggling with my thoughts.

And I have never heard of Stuart Smally???? Course, I live in my own little universe sometimes...will Google

take care

Beagleman, I really like your quote! That should be a good reminder for me- thanks! Sounds like you got some misconstrued opinions on life and morality. There are many other callings in life other than the married life... I was taught that all through adolescence. Even if others are hard on you, we are our worst critic so cut yourself some slack! There are many other outlets and things in life for you to enjoy.

I remember staring at this one in my 3rd grade classroom... It may be corny, but so true: "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars."

Oh gosh of course, I always think of Mother Teresa when I get overwhelmed and annoyed with life's challenges: "I know that God would never give me anything that together we can't handle. Sometimes, I just wish he didn't trust me so much." Man, I think of that one often.

Everyone has shared some really inspirational quotes. I'm going to look for a nice journal or notebook and start a "quote book". That'll give me a task to accomplish today. Sundays are rough for me since I don't have to work, I have a lot of free time and I usually get caught up in my thoughts for too long.

Greanbean,

I am glad that you shared this. Whenever I see your name I think of my garden. I had a lot of beans this year. Brings a little comfort.

I like your corny quote. Shoot for the moon. That is cool.

We are our own worst critics. That is true. I agree that people need to cut themselves some slack too.

Hello all, not a quote but my philosphy, to give someone a chance is rewarding. At work a few months ago I asked one my seniors about how to do a job but instead of helping me they abused me and said I was incompetant. The next day i was kind and respectful, and after a few days they smiled and were kind to me. You see I gave them a chance even though they gave me no chance in the first instance. I use this same philosphy in dealing with inmates in the gaol, non judgemental, but still assertive, everyone deserves a chance. I wish others would not be so judgemental.

I wish that there weren't judgemental people in this world too. But there are. We just have to take them with a grain of salt. Or kill them with kindness like you did. Know that when people are like that, they probably aren't happy. There are a lot of unhappy people in the world too. But what can you do? Ignore them. Keep living your life as you choose to. Know that you do have that option. One day at a time. One moment if necessary.

Greenbean, Hey I remembered one of the quotes you shared, and it helped me tonight. It refocused me on the positive and instead of sinking when I felt a regret/negative thought about something, I saw the good. So thanks again for sharing. It was the one about reaching for the moon... I copied that one down.

Beagleman, that is very good what you wrote. It sounds like you have your values in the right place. More than many can say.

Maggie, the movie is called Stuart Smalley Saves His Family. If you havn't seen it, you are in for a treat. It's from the 90's I think. Sooooo funny, but so true at the same time. See if you can find a copy of it to watch. "Let go and let God." I learned that from Stuart Smalley too!

His character is a guy who is tryign to recover from his dysfunctional family so he's joined a bunch of 12 step groups. In the end his brother and sister see the light, he manages to leave his mom and dad behind to establish his own life, and his friends are with him all the way. It is a comedy, though, and so well done how it has such a good message presented with such a loveable character and there are many funny lines in the movie (along with the positive AA etc. quotes).

Karen, you are such a good encourager to us all. Like a mamabear, only a sisterbear at the same time. Know what I mean? You love us all well!

Jamiee, I don't usually think of myself as a tough cookie since I feel weak so much of the time and my strength comes largely from outside myself. But maybe you're right, and I am a tough cookie when it comes down to it. Thansk for saying so. Hope you're doing okay today! yeah

take care everyone, embers

I'm glad it helped you! I've been trying to do the same thing lately--- see things from a different point of view instead of slipping downward. It's so easy to slip and get consumed by yucky feelings, so I'm really glad you overcame!

Found one today that I think expresses the importance of understanding...

"Love me for who I AM, not who I AM BEING"

We all have days, weeks, or periods of life where our behavior or actions may not best represent who we are. I don't think it's an acceptable excuse for hurtful or selfish behavior, but this should show you that those who truly know you and the wonderful person you are, will still love you.

Good ole unconditional love.

I was watching a Full House rerun and wrote down a quote from there. It talks about not feeling we have to make things happen to prove we're not a failure: "Life is not a competition. Things happen when they are supposed to."

I liked that!

Some people are never happy, some people never learn, some people never realise what they must do. Life for some is a mystery, a puzzle that cannot be solved, cryptic and very cruel. Some dont get it, they are not cool, the never never people, they are just fools.

Yes, life is a mystical precious gift and so many chase superficial dreams looking for fulfillment that can only come from within

Nice beagle

Has anyone ever watched that show "Scrubs", the hospital comedy?? I am sure glad I could pause the TV because it took me awhile to jot this one down:

"You want to take the easy way out because you're scared and you're scared, because if you try and fail, there's no one to blame but yourself. Life is scary, get used to it. There are no magical fixes; it's all up to you. Get off your keister, get out of here and start doing the work. Nothing in this world that's worth having comes easy"

I thought this hit the nail on the head with all the challenges life throws at us, but we all are facing those challenges, not taking the easy way out. It's a good reminder that there ISN'T any easy way out.

Plus, I always laugh when someone uses the word "keister"... I know I guy named Keister, poor thing.

Greenbean,

That is one of my favorite shows. I love sitcoms. I imagine Dr. Cox said that until you said Keister. That makes me think of the guy higher up. I can't remember his name. Kelsel, that is it. I can't believe I remembered that. Usually I don't. lol... I call it fibrofog. I think it is old age. lol...

That was a good quote. And it is true. Good things don't come easy. We do have to work for them, but I figure as long as we are trying, we will get rewards.

Thanks for posting. It sounds like you are having a good day. For that I am happy.
