I thought I would start a thread about the holidays.  I know some get depressed and some enjoy the hustle and bustle of Christmas time.

So let's post about what we are doing for the holidays.  What are you all doing for the holidays, share your joys and contentment.  And if it isn't so good, share that too.

We are going to Son and dil's for the holidays.  It may not be Christmas day, but we will be going.  I am thinking about making a cranberry pie.  Sounds really easy and good.  I have all my gift buying done and wrapping done except for a couple of small things that I ordered.

Hope you all share on this post.  Remember whether it is good or not so good.

Hugs to all of you,
Karen

My heads in the sand too Jamiee, Xmas is always really tough for me, however........

I try to make it a good day inspite of how I feel, I am working the nightshift Xmas eve, will come home, have a few hours sleep, ring my best friend, and make my way to another friends house till I return to work for my nightshift. All my present buying and wrapping is done, and will be sent this morn, I had to complete it early as shifting a week before Xmas. Our work is doing an early Xmas dinner out this week with secret Santa, (but I know who is buying for everyone, as the usual happened, I planned the evening) So this mean, Mongolian BBQ for dinner. The resturant pre cut veges and meat, and you put in your bowl what you want, and add the sauces and they cook it on the hotplate as you wait, really enjoy this fresh food cooked right before your eyes.

Jamie, It is totally okay that you aren't doing Christmas. I have had many years where I didn't do it either. And it was because I didn't have any money to do it. We didn't get a turkey or a ham. We usually had venison. That is why I don't like it anymore, I had to eat it so much when I was young. But it was healthy and tasted good. But the holiday is so commercialized and full of emotions for some. My goal is to see my grandkids and that is it.

I can remember when we would have a dinner, everything on the table came out of the woods or garden except the butter and milk. I even made my own bread. Or buscuits. I don't know what I am really trying to say. But Christmas means a lot of different things to different people. Some have family traditions. Some cook, some go out to eat. But even though it is commercialized, I think in ways, that we tend to still focus on family and friends. And I think that is what it should be about. But it is for kids. It always will be. I look forward to watching the grandkids open up their gifts. That always lights up my life and spirits.

Know that it is okay to be sad, that is what this thread is for. So we have somewhere to vent, or otherwise. We can talk about the good things and the not so good things. The way we are feeling at any given moment. Some of us are going to be filled with all kinds of emotions. But we will all be here for eachother.

I wish all of you a blessed holiday season.

Hugs, Karen

Right on Karen-Nice post.

With a child at home, it is always easier to get in the mood, but I remember quite a few xmases as a single woman..not so easy so whatever gets you thru the day...

Good night to all

It says that the happiest time of the year are actually the loneliest for some. Hugs for all!

For Christmas, we'll spend it as a family. Visit some relatives and enjoy the day altogether!

Yes you are right, it is the loneliest for some. I hope that they can share here and maybe our posts will make them feel better. I use to hate Christmas, but since I got grandkids, I enjoy it more, though it is short lived. It is for kids I guess.
