so i am on an ostomy forum and over there i am askng about how my j-pouch will affect my feertility level or not long story short the dissease i had Ulsertive Colitis 15 % infertility with a ostomy bag it is possible to be pregnat the j-pouch another percent of infertility but i have half of the surgery done and the disase already affects you and in my mind im overwhelmed i feel like the past month has been nothing abouot choices to get the surgery or not , how to eat , how to empty my ileostomy bag... do i want to sit on the toliet ,squat, stand ,kneal . how many times to change the whole bag when to empty it thoes are the things that come 1st to mind ohhh and the big one WHAT TO WEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am so irriatated in life right now i think something that maybe getting me wound up after my surggery i stopped taking my anti-depresent i would take them like 2 or 3 times a week my mom knows and i have been light heded for the past 2 days so yesterday i took 2 of them (im only perscribed 1 a day)
this may sound bad but since the surgery i figured i have to do right because i need my mom and arguing is something i dont need my sister is 12 getting to that age. anyway so today my friend wanted me to hold her lunch because she wanted to go outside to "smoke" i thought to myself how i would feel if i did i use to smoke but as im growing up its not as imprtant to me as i thought ...then while i was high (from weed) i thought i need to take imodium how is that going to rreact to me i might not digest asregular it may be longer now that my high is going down i realized that i am sad . i know when you smoke and come off your high your sad because of the dopamine sent to your brin was increased and now it's lower but i know my self its better for me to "smoke when i am in a good mood consistantly but if im down then illl come down hard and emotional for a while. whewww had to get that off my mind.

Hi Jackie,

I am sorry that you are faced with such hard decisions at such a young age. And what you are going through is really difficult I can see right now. But I think you are handling things well right now.

I had to edit your post today. We aren't suppose to talk about marijuana on the forum. Even if it is medical and legal for you.

I am glad you are seeing that you need your mom and I am glad she is helping you. Sounds like you are taking an adult role in life. How old are you, by the way? You sound mature. But I get the feeling that you are young. I am 53, so anything under that is young to me. lol...

Keep taking life one day at a time. I know, I am not in your situation, so I don't understand a lot. But I know that life is difficult for you, focus on the good things. It makes it a lot easier. You will figure out what clothes to wear. I would go with what is most comfortable for you. I don't know a lot about an ileostomy bag. But I know it is hard to deal with. But I really think you can handle it. I think you can handle whatever is thrown at you.

Keep posting, know that we are here for you. Tell me a little more about yourself, your age etc...

I hope that you feel better soon.

Hugs, Karen

PS  Do take your antidepressants as prescribed.  Don't take two if you only are suppose to take one without talking to your doctor first.  You have to take them regularly for a long time in order for them to work...

iam 17 years old so that is probally really young to you lol but my birthday is coming up soon!!!!! anyway i have been on anti-deppresent for 3 years now and i was asked if i wanted or felt the need to take it at the time i was on a lot of medication due to Ulsertive Colitis (steriods , insulin etc.) and when i was winged off i was just emotionaly off balanced you could say. for the surgery they asked if i took my anti-depresent i told them no but i don't refuse to take them they spoe to meand said since im turning 18 soon i can make the desicion to not want them perscribed. Jackie,
I'm a j-poucher and a few years older than getting by is. I had my first surgery last year and the takedown surgery #2 on 12/29/10.

You've had a traumatic surgery and are already back at school. It has to be difficult dealing with all of this and school. Give yourself a break and don't get down on yourself. You realized that smoking was not a good idea, so just don't do it again.

about fertility, it's great that you had laproscopic surgery. That's not as invasive as open surgery. You have less scarring and therefore better odds of having a baby.

You made a smart decision to wait for the second surgery until the end of the school year and you don't have to have it at all if you don't want to and are doing fine with the ileo. So take your time, you will learn how to change the bag and everything better with time. I only had mine for 8 weeks and I was really good at it by the time surgery came around.

Getting By is right about the antidepressants. You should talk to your doctor about them. If you are ok not taking them don't but it's not good to take them irregularily. I have experience with that too. I was on one that made me worse, I was so eager to get off of it I just quit it without tapering off of it. I had weird side effects for 2 weeks and that was a dumb thing for a 50 year old to do.

Take care
