I am especially lonely and depressed around the holidays. I feel so blue.  I've am recently separated, but we are still friends.  He's got my son (16 1/2) who is special needs, but my son is doing terrible in school, has no motivation other than games, & gets very aggressive at times, and is extremely impulsive.  Sometimes i fear the worse for his future.  He also has a pooping problem (encopresis) all his life that is out of control and he refuses to comply with doctor instructions. I can not live with him again.  So if something happens to his Dad, i don't know what is going to happen to him.   It makes me very sad.  I'm seeing a psychologist that specializes in sleep.  I've only seen him twice so far, and going again tomorrow.  I was improving greatly, and this past week I didn't follow the guidelines and am back to where i started.   Just feeling so down.  I recently went to a meetup group for cards & games, but felt so dumb compared to all the others, with both skill at the games and socially.

Hi Tired50,

There are a lot of us who suffer more around the holidays and in winter in general. But it sounds like it is especially hard for you. First of all, try not to worry aout the things that you haven't got any control over. Such as what will happen to your son if something happens to your ex. You will cross that bridge when you get to it. For now, try not to think about those types of things. And you can't make somebody comply with doctor's instructions if they don't care enough to do it themselves. You have to worry about you right now and get your sleeping issues under control. That probably has a lot to do with your depression.

Have you ever tried meditation? It is a natural way that you can help yourself fall to sleep. I do it everynight before bed, and it really helps. It is also good for the mind and body and can be done at most anytime. It is a good way to keep yourself calm and centered. If you are interested, I can share what I know about it. And there are many books on meditation.

I sure do hope that you feel better soon. Do take care of you right now. I hope that you can feel cheered up and better.

Keep posting, know that we all care about you.

Hugs, Karen

Thanks for caring. I do almost daily yoga, and will try to increase meditation.
