Thank you Joyce. There was a lot about them that I didn't know. I want to make some too. For my friend's birthday. She would love them and so would I...

Thanks for bringing this up Courtney.

Thank you both...

Hugs, Karen

Has anyone else made them yet?

I couldn't find the 'almond bark'. in my supermarket yesterday.
I did pick up a product from Duncan Hines called 'Amazing Glazes'. You microwave and pour. Says 'glaze will set in minutes'.

Think I'll make the balls today and give this a try

A disaster...sob, sob...

Tried making cake balls this morning... (finally got around to it)
WELL, the 1/3 cup of oil (Wesson) that got added to the cake mix was apparently RANCID.  It was the last in a container that had been around for awhile.

Just worried me after I added, so tasted a chunk of the cake..ugh.

SO...this cake is 'feeding the birds'!
Courtney... I need some of yours (or your help, or somethin')

Oh well, tomorrow is another day!

I had a disaster of my own.

Decided to make chocolate cake balls since funfetti ones came out so well last week. I grabbed the wrong box of cake mix and this mix used butter instead of oil. No big deal I tell myself, it'll just be like Paula Deen (very fitting for Louisiana, right?)

So I make the cake, roll it all up, things are looking great. Then I get to icing them. First off, I ruin a bag of candy melts because they won't melt. Then, I melt another bag (now only down to two bags) and it doesn't turn out so great. I read the tiny print on the bag that you can add vegetable shortening if the icing gets overheated and crystalize so I try it out... starts getting thin again... alright!

I decide to taste it and it was... ok. So I get a cake ball, dip and it and uh oh... icing isnt sticking (probably because I added oil and not shortening?) I only do one ball, decided to taste it after it dries. Well, what do you know, IT NEVER DRIES.

So, I will be going to store at lunch to get new candy melts to again attempt to ice these cake balls. After that, I'm throwing them out and taking a break for awhile. Maybe its all the butter in the cake combined with the oil in the candy melts... or maybe I've just lost my touch!

So sorry you had problems (but glad not to be alone).
Never did get as far as the coating...thank goodness from the sound of your experience.

I'm not going to try 'em again...at least not 'till I forget last week.
They sounded good, but more work than I need.

Hope your new candy melts go ok for you, Courtney. Let us know.

I haven't gotten the stuff for them yet, but I do plan to try them. I will let you all know how they turn out. I want to try the almond bark. But don't know if I will or not. They sound like a lot of work, but sound so goooood...

I hope that you all are having a great day.

Hugs, Karen

It has been snowing non stop since early. I have to get ready for exercise class.
