Within the past year and a half since my work injury I have completely fallen apart. I've been in and out of the ER, Urgent Care, my doctor's office and several Hospitals (I've had 5 surgeries with more to come). Still I suffer chronic pain. That's when I thought it couldn't get any worse and yet it did. I just spent the past week with a fever, vomiting and dehydrated. I had the cold chills with hands so hot and numb they could melt butter. I couldn't hold down even water and so I became dehydrated, which happens too quickly for me. Since I couldn't hold anything in me, I couldn't take my pain meds and on top of my stomach flipping out I also began to suffer withdrawal symptoms.

I was in so much pain, especially from not eating in 4 days! I lost over 11lbs., but it isn't the best way to go about it. I wouldn't wish whatever stomach virus I had on even my worse enemy; we all have one, sometimes it's ourself. Somewhere in the middle of all my sickness and weakness I threw in the towel. Every time something medically happens to me it just keeps getting worse. I need for it to just end already! It kills me to have to watch my wife watch me suffering. That's the worse pain, seeing the helpless, worried, stressed out look in my wife's tearing eyes.

How do I and why do I continue? Does it get any better? If I were a horse I'd be out of my misery by now, hahahahahaha! LOL. Yup, sure is a messed up rediculuos life I lead. I guess it doesn't hurt as much when I keep thinking I'm taking one for the team.

Annnndddd DONE.

Hi Charles,

I am sorry you ar egoing through this. I am having stomache problems right now, but luckily no vomitting. Just burning. See the doc on Wed and hopefully he can help. I feel like I have an ulcer. Too much coffee and cigarettes I think.

I hope that you feel better soon. Yes it will get better. Hang in there friend. We all care about you.

Hugs, Karen

So very sorry your going through all of this, chronic pain can be one of the hardest things
to live with on a daily bases, if you've not yet thought about counseling maybe that
would be a good thing to think about..
But, also have you seen a Rheumatologist doctor, maybe get an RA doctor. and if your
not with a pain management doctor maybe now would be a good time to think about getting
in and seen by a local pm doctor...Life can get a little better when you get the right doctors helping you out
and getting the correct testing done, maybe seek out a neurologist and getting nerve testing done and
get blood work for b12 and vitamin D being low on those can be very bad...Low b-12 can cause nerve damage.
So please think about this and hopefully things will turn around for you soon, many many well wishes and do keep us posted as
we do truly care...thinking of you....(RA diseases can cause flu like symptoms) Hope this info helps...

Thanks Karen, its good knowing I can vent a little and that I did.

ChartReux all good advice... I have a PM doctor, I just started counseling, I saw a RA and besides diagnosing me with Fibromyalgia there wasn't anything else going on in that area. I've been working with my PCP to ensure all my vitamins and nutrients are on target. I do have low Testosterone levels and will begin hormone therapy in a few weeks.

I'm finally feeling better as far as my stomach virus is concerned. I just get so tired of being seriously ill. I have always been a better doctor than patient. I wish I could go back and change the day of my work injury, but of course I can't...yet.

Thanks again!

Charles

I still wonder if it could be RA or a form of it, I've suffered for years with doctors,
had good blood work ect, finally was referred out to a RA Doctor and he
ordered a hand MRI which shows damage done by RA, new type is called
Seronegative Arthritis, but is still treated with the same meds as RA, but I hope you
don't have this...and its good that you started counseling that will help, but
you do have to give it time to work...Look for a counselor experienced with
treating chronic pain patients, my counselor has that experience and it helps.

Many many well wishes to you and I hope your doing better soon...

My dx's to date are Asthma, degenative disc, fibro, sjogren's, spinal stenosis (lower lumbar)
seronegative arthritis, ptsd, depression, nerve damage due to low vitamin B-12, mild carpal tunnel,
gerd (2 bleeding ulcer's not the h.plori type) and a few others,
But being on healingwell sure helps sometimes to get my mind off my pain, this is a great place for support..
.maybe
you could look into some relaxation cd's... Once you get on HRT, maybe that will
help some...

ChartReux,

Thanks again for the advice. I can't have an MRI anymore due to my Neurostimulator implant. I had my blood tested for a battery of possibilities and there was nothing significant jumping out at my doctor.

I'm one of those laid back, easy going people...until I'm p*ssed off. Meaning, I'm good for now with the Psyschologist I'm seeing. I'll go until I see no further value in going. I feel like I'm pimping out my thoughts, especially since I have to pay for someone to listen to me! Hahaha

Sorry, what means HRT?

I want to post words of encouragement and support to others, but it's difficult. I'm just a bit numb these days. I'm not complaining, cuz it's helping to also numb my pain too!

HRT is hormone replacement therapy. I took hormones for years and they really helped. Though it is not right for everybody. Some cancer risks.

I hope you feel better soon.

Take care,

You can ask your doctor, but low frequency mri's can be done, and you just have to
let your tech know about your stim, and since it's just of your hands it should be okay...
a full body mri yes, should be avoided, and bloodwork can be normal and you can still have
a form of RA, it's just called seronegative arthritis, you can google it...just a thought...
something to consider...and getting by was right HRT is Hormone replacement therapy
as you did state you'd be starting that soon due to low testosterone...
sorry didn't mean to confuse you...and yeah I can understand about the "pimping of thoughts"
I see my psychologist every 3 weeks...should be every 2 weeks but insurance raised our co pays..
but yeah sometimes it can be hard to share these emotions, as we we're taught to keep them in,
"sorta like the thing that guys shouldn't cry..." but it's okay to cry and feel like you do, it's how you cope with it all
and somedays are harder than others, I won't sugar coat things we are going be in pain and dealing with long term pain
is very hard...I wake up I'm in pain and I go to bed I'm in pain and it would be nice for one day to just not have this pain,
so I keep hope that the medical profession will someday find a way to help ease this pain, just gotta latch onto some kind of hope...
that helps...except, of course on my bad days when I just want to cuss the world away...
I hope that you can get a low pain day soon, many many well wishes, and do keep us posted even if it's just to vent
There are some local fibro support groups maybe look into one of those, it can help with your wife understanding
if you take her with you to support group of a doctors appointment...also a moist heating pad can help with fibro pain or a hot shower...
