Just wanted to post and say hi to the group.
I am a 53 yo f, have been struggling with depression on and off for a long long time but never admitted this to anyone, including my doctor.  On Weds, I went in for my annual, and she asked me what was wrong. She said i looked pale, sad and depressed.  I let it all out.  I have been through 2 total knee replacements in the last year, current hip tendonitis, upper back pain, on top of dealing with the stress of my grown son who has made life quite hard.  She started me on Lexapro, but the pharmacy couldn't fill it because it needs preauthorization from the insurance company.  I have great insurance, but it said I need step therapy first....trying the cheaper antidepressants first.  I contacted somebody in medication authorization and told her I have been on Cymbalta with severe side effects and Wellbutrin with no help at all from that.  So, it is Sunday now and still no word.  I am anxious to start on medication for depression, anxiety and to help with pain control.  Not sure how long all this preauthorization takes, but they obviously don't appreciate the pain the patients are in emotionally or physically waiting with no word.
Anyway, glad I found a place that looks so supportive.

doctor on Monday saying you've still not heard back about the medicine yet...have your doctor start
on his end to push this thru for you...Hope you can get on your medicines soon and that it works good for you...
Many well wishes and keep us posted on how things are going and you can always
come and vent here when needed...HealingWell, also has a good chronic pain forum...
* So many dx's I could write a book* "It would be nice if we could use the edit button in real life"...

I to have just been prescribed Lexapro. My doctor gave me samples so I have not had the chance to go to the actual pharmacy to pick up an actual month supply. I know that Lexapro just came out with a generic version so maybe it will not be so hard to get that preauth. Hoping things go well and you can be on your way to recovery soon.
