Okay...I'm having a slight pity party for one.  I'm not feeling good (nothing major...just the onset of a cold).  It is 1:15 am and I am exhausted yet my mind will not stop and I cannot sleep.

I have less than 6 hours to go before my alarm goes off.

Anybody have a magic spell?  Tomorrow is going to be awful!

Learn meditation. It helps in times like these when we can't shut off our minds.

That is what I do, and it only takes me a couple of minutes to fall asleep.

Hugs, Karen

PS I use to drink sleepytime tea. Worked good.

It's probably the virus upsetting your system, Cass, but I've found that when I have difficulty getting to sleep there is a remedy:

Buy a small container of French UNrefined sea salt (not one of the products sold that is sea salt made by American producers--that won't do it). Sprinkle about 1/8 teaspoon on your tongue and let it dissolve. In just a few minutes you will  begin to feel drowsy. Unrefined salt is known to be soporific.

Himalayan unrefined sea salt is supposed to be the best in the world, and it's good, no question about it. Both French and Himalayan are excellent for helping as a sleep aid.

The advantage? Unrefined sea salt contains all of the major minerals and trace minerals lacking in refined salt, and it removes acid from around brain cells.

I often think that acidity is the cause of not being able to get to sleep as quickly as one wishes.

Hope you feel better soon.

Hi, It's Genetic and Karen:

Thanks for your replies.  IG, I've actually been reading your comments about the salt in othe threads so I'm going to check out a health food store one of these days and see if I can find it.

Actually, my diet is horrible (i.e. no problem in figuring out where/how I've gained my weight) so I know I need to do a total change in my whole diet.  With summer comming...I'm hoping to get energized for that.

For me anyway, it is scary how much my depression kicks in and my mood changes when I lose sleep time.  It is like I am entirely a different person.  I've got my Xanax at night-time, but I know that I'm coming down with something, so I'm just thrown off.

Praying for a better nights sleep tonight!

I would go for the pills as valerian tastes like dirty socks. lol... Sometimes they add other herbs and you don't notice it so much.

Good luck Cass... I hope that you get some rest soon.

Hugs, Karen

Hi All.  Well another night has rolled around and it is 1:03 am.  I really am tired but my body isn't cooperating.

Oh well, I'll finish drinking my water and then go back to bed.

Maybe something will shut my brain off.
