I'm seriously reaching the end, I can't do this for much longer
I wonder what is wrong, when everything seems so right on the outside
I've spent years going to doctors, have taken so many combinations of meds
my last on effexor turned me into a raving lunatic, getting off it was hell - NEVER NEVER TAKE Effexor
Everyone says it will get better, sometimes it does, but it never lasts more than a week
its almost worse to get a glimpse of how good life can be, then be thrown back into my own personal hell
I feel sorry for my family, they ask all the time "what's wrong mom?", how I tell them everythig is wrong
I honestly truly in my heart feel they would be better off with the constant worrying about me and how I feeltick tick tick

Hi Paulacristina,

Welcome to the depression forum. I am sorry you don't feel well. I took effexor for many years with no problem. I switched to pristiq as it is stronger. The switch was easy, but I went off effexor once and it was a nightmare. But I took it for about 20 years with no problem. Well, maybe 15 years. But it was a long time. It works for some but not for others.

Have you thought about trying another med? I see you have tried a few. But the right combination might still be out there for you. I found abilify helps a lot. That is a mood stabilizer. It is rather expensive though. My copay is 40.00. But I get twice the milligram prescribed and I cut them in half and they last two months.

Are you going to any type of counseling? It could help you cope with life's ups and downs. We all have bad days, but the good should outweigh the bad. And we learn to go with the bad. No sense in fighting it sometimes.

I do meditation and it puts my mind in a calmer place. Maybe it would help you too. It is something that you can control. It gives you a feeling of empowerment. So think about it. Coming here helps too. You can get things off of your chest and get suggestions from others. I also find walking helps me to calm down. Plus it helps to lose weight. So for me it is a win win situation. You may want to try that. You can do it with your kids too.

I sure do hope that you feel better soon. Keep posting and let us know how you are doing.

Hugs, Karen
