It's 1 in the afternoon on a Sunday. I haven't stopped crying since waking up at 9, so I'm drinking a little alcohol and I took a sleeping pill. I know it's wrong, but I'm not functioning. I've called and talked to my parents, but they made me feel worse.

I am sorry BlueMoon. I really wish you wouldn't drink. If you do, please don't drink much. Drinking alcohol makes depression worse. You will get into a bad cycle.

Please take care...

Hugs, Karen

You do know that alcohol is a depressant? When you first start drinking alcohol it tends to have the effect of amplifying what ever your mood is. If you are feeling up and happy it will usually make you more so, but if you are feeling down it only makes it worse. No matter your mood, if you drink enough of it you will start to feel down.

When you are feeling this way you would do a lot better to make yourself some herbal tea or even some coffee or hot chocolate. Curling up with a hot mug of whatever can help calm your mind and your emotions.

Beyond that though, so long as it does not become an all the time thing, there is nothing wrong with sitting down and enjoying a good cry. A good cry that we do not punish ourselves for can help wash our spirit clean and refresh our will.
