My dear aunt (now 78 years old) has lost her husband 2 1/2 year ago. Unfortunately her mental condition is deteriorating now and I think she is depressed. She lives far from us but due to a health problem she is travelling for a check up every 3 months and am under the impression that especially this time she is lifeless. All she does is complain about any pains she has, she never smiles, she just sits in the chair totally lost in space. She refuses to go on medication and she is very stubborn (meaning that it will be very difficult, if not impossible to get her to see a specialist). I have spoken to her doctor who promised that he will have a discussion with her, but I have not got much hope. I have tried to be around her, remind her the good aspects of life and that we are all for her loving her etc but she seems to be worse than in the begining she was sad and lost. Any suggestions? am at loss my self cause I do not want her to pass the last years of a good life deep in sadness.
