I feel weird because I fit into so many of these categories. Anyway, I was diagnosed with depression when I was 11 years old. I'm 45 now and still hanging in there. I completely refused to take meds for depression for most of my life. What a waste of time I could have enjoyed! Hopefully i can make a few friends here and maybe help some people who are new to the disease or just seeking some answers.

Hi Karen,

Thank you for the welcome. Though I fought depression without medications, it was foolish. When I finally broke down and accepted that I needed help to cope the doc put me on Lexapro and it changed my life. It certainly didn't fix everything, but it made life a whole lot easier to handle.

*hugs back*

Sometimes we can't fix it all, but if we can be happy the majority of the time, I think we are doing good. I, myself, can't complain. I feel good most days. I take many medications and go to regular counseling. It has helped me tremondously. I am glad you feel your life is much easier to handle. My motto is "one day at a time". I think that is the best way to go. Life will throw you curve balls, but it is all in the way that you handle it I think. We can choose to get upset or we can take it in stride and go with the flow of it. I think going with the flow is the best... I hope you have a great day today.

Hugs, Karen
