I started taking it on saturday april 30th, and haven.t had any of the side effects anybody has talked about like headaches. maybe my throat gets a little dry, but i also get a little anxious. is this normal? i am on half a 10 mg tab right now for the 1st 6 days, then i go up to a full tab by thursday. does anybody else have that feeling? Last night i had to take 2   .5 mg lorazepham pills just to get the bad thoughts from racing, and to calm myself down. and my stomach muscles kept getting real tight, but i was having my thoughts os death again like i usually do while at work. but after i took the 2nd one, about an hour later they all stopped, stomach calmed down and i was fine for the rest of the shift. i just don't remember my psychitrist saying that anxiety was a side effect  of lexapro. good thing i can get as many lora's as i need to get by til this blows over, or i'd be hurtin at work.

Hey Sober,

I take Lexapro. Your doc was smart to start you on half tab for a week and then go to full tab. You are likely to avoid side affects that way. I did not experience any side affects with lexapro. It is said to work a bit faster than some of the others, but still takes some time. These SSRI's work by stopping your brain from 'spilling' seratonin. Be keeping more of the seratonin (which you get from light and exercise) your brain should begin to function more rationally. This is why it takes a while for these to work. Your body needs to accumulate enough of the seratonin to help.

I hope this helps. Keep posting Sober . . .

i saw someone else post that they get anxious. im kinda calm right now, but just got out of the shower. i am usually calm at home, but at work i can't help but think bad thoughts. i guess i should just take the anxiety pills, since they help me calm down and think rationally. i actually put it to myself like this when thinking of heart attacks, i told myself is there a better way to die? we all die someday, and most don't chose. after that i was fine til i got home and took my lexapro. not having bad thoughts, just anxious. also had a job interview, so that got me a little worked up too. im great at them, but i hate waiting for call backs.
