My mother was diagnosed with cancer on Christmas, and I have had major issues with work. My boyfriend of a year just recently broke up with me as well. I am so lost and so sad, and don't know what to do anymore. I am in a outpatient program, but feel like I'm not getting any happier. Is there a light at the end of the tunnel, because I can't see it right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Chopin23,

Welcome to the depression forum. Yes there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Do you have a therapist of your own? Or are you in group? Your therapist should be helping you through this, as you are facing a lot right now. I am truly sorry to hear about your mother. What type of cancer and what stage is she in? If you don't mind my asking.

As for the boyfriend. It is his loss. You sound like a very sweet person. There will be other boyfriends. That is the truth. You will probably meet the man of your dreams one day soon. So don't worry about that, though that is easier said than done. It is devistating to be broken up with no matter what the circumstances. And you have a lot weighing on you right now. Give yourself a chance to grieve the relationship. But know it will be getting better. Easier each day...

Know that we here do understand what you are going through right now. I am wondering if you need grief therapy at this point. Especially with your mom having cancer. I hope that it is treatable and that she gets better.

Keep your chin up. Yes, there is a light... And you will see it. Take care of you. Make sure that you are getting the therapy that you need right now. Take care and keep posting.

Hugs, Karen
